I don't know what 2022 will bring but if the New Year is favorable, I sure am keen to join this 90 day Challenge with my model 2008 Soldier! I'll check back in January 2022, if you don't mind Nix

uhm...

I wanted to join ElevenBlade's Combo Edge Challenge, which is set for February.
And the Soldier Challenge is for February-March-April...

It is interesting that the Soldier, or rather, my Oho Trekker, has a combo edge blade.

So, could we possibly do both for February? Start February with the Soldier, and if one has a CE blade, we get the badge, then continue for March and April, and get the Soldier On badge?

It would help keep us motivated to get two badges, because the Soldier On Challenge will be challenging ( :P ), going for three months.

Any thoughts on this?
I said I would join ElevenBlade's challenge, and he posted his first. But I do want to do the Soldier On one too.

There is a over whelming possibility that if I accept this challenge that I will go MIA in the theater of operations.  I am at best an irregular soldier, a partisan, a guerrilla.

So ten persons is a squad size unit, right?

Is it too soon to break it down into teams?

Keep in mind that you can post your daily entries retrospectively. I.e., you can go on a week-long backpacking trip days 1-7, then on day 8 post snaps from days 1-7 and day 8. Just please label each snap with the correct day so the mods know what is going on for purposes of awarding the badge.   :tu:

I'm glad I ran across this, my apologies if anyone already saw this pic on bladeforums. I'm actually currently deployed in Europe, and a pioneer is always in my pocket, I'll see how busy I am here when the end of the year rolls around. But assuming I'm not to terrible busy I'll join in the fun, I'll reenact trench warfare sitting in the cold in Eastern Europe.

Looking forward to seeing the variety of soldiers that members of this challenge carry.  I'm still not 100% sure which variation I'll carry but it will likely be my trusty '60s bailed Elinox Pioneer.

Has this been discussed at all? I am trying to organize my 2022 challenges and it would be great to fit the combo edge in the Soldier one. Kind of a combo, if you will. :pok:

Steve and I briefly kicked around the idea of doing a 30-day as part of a 90-day challenge.

At present, the thought is "one challenge, one badge."

So, it looks like you have to make a choice......

I'll do the Soldier challenge, and for the first month of it, I'll be posting the pics in the Combo Edge challenge too. But I won't get the badge for that, to be eligible for the Soldier On badge.

Sitting at a Café with a coffee and a basket of fresh baked rolls is not the same as trench warfare. :twak:

I've been thinking and thinking on this one and decided to say sod it and join in. I've just joined the November SAK Challenge with the intention of getting the 30 Day Soldier badge, as a warm up. However that will be easier as I can slip the Wenger SI in my pocket when needed and use the 2008 model Soldier in the house where I can't get done for carrying it illegally. ::) The problem with the SI is there's a slight nick/bend in the blade not far from the tip, which means long term it won't be much cop. I can't commit to 90 days with a 2008 Soldier due to UK carry laws

I do have a Pioneer on the way, though. And I've got a few new/as new 1961 Soldiers from the 90s/00s on the radar as well for when I've got a bit more cash in my back pocket. So basically, by the time the challenge rolls round, I should be good to go. And hopefully with an actual Soldier rather than an interloper...

It's just a pity I can't get the BAKs in on this. ;) :D

I missed this.   :salute:

I've gone and seen a few of the World War 1 and 2 memorials while I've been here. I was in Poland for a few weeks and stopped by the museum for Stalag Luft III, the POW camp were the "Great Escape" happened. Out past the museum about an mile is where the real tunnel was, they have it marked off with some gravel. Pretty interesting. The foundations for some of the buildings are still there even. Including the camp hospital basement.   :ahhh talk about the start of a horror film standing in the basement of a nazi hospital.

And the coffee is rather burnt  ;)
