Has leatherman changed its date code stamp format?
on: August 14, 2021, 12:07:31 AM
The date code stamped inside my new charge+ tti is 11D -- I purchased this brand-new and it arrived sealed in retail box.
I also have a newish surge stamped 1D -- this i received from leatherman (but not in retail packaging) under warranty replacement.
Is Leatherman doing away with the mmyy format date stamp? If so, is there a simply formula to translate the new stamp to month/year?

I don't have anything brand new except for a Bond

It has datecodes in the yymm format

0121 1020

Not sure what they are doing with anything else though :ahhh

I think those are part #'s and not date codes

It should be on the inside of the sidewall of the handle in the middle.

Just like Steve C said, it should be by the can/bottle opener side, and the flat screwdriver side; maybe what you saw was the product code for the locks. The 2nd Gen. Wave and Wave + has them as shown, so probably the Charge too. First two pictures are date stamps (121317; 112217), and third one is the lock code(16D).

You sir are a scholar and a gentleman :-) Indeed you are correct. I spotted a 1220 on the charge and a 0918 on the surge -- your pictures really helped.

Thank you!

 :hatsoff:

Just in case, do check both handles, as they can be from different dates of manufactures (my above example is from the same 2nd. Gen. Wave); when dating mines, I go for the latter, although in this example it is safe to say it is a 2017 model (and same year in it's original sheath and blister pack!)

Would need to see pics of it

Seems it might just have a number that didn't stamp or stamp to light to see

And welcome to  :MTO:
