Social media is all about "LOOK AT ME!" and not so much on actual substance.  Thankfully we have the forum for folks who are less superficial.

Pretty pictures are nice, but if you want to know about the thing you are looking at, you need the forum.

And the Encyclopedia.

And SAKWiki.

Yes, but a lot of people don't have an attention span these days because of social media

Glad I still have the attention span to actually read something along with the pics  :D

I carried a Clutch all through undergrad and eventually replaced it with a Dime. The Dime never quite clicked for me the way the Clutch did, although looking at the two of them I have no idea why. I've thought about getting another since they're so cheap. I wound up giving it away to a woman I was dating. Hope she's still getting some decent use out of it.

Neither of them have the best track record with pliers unfortunately, but I like them both for different reasons.

The Clutch feels better in the hand because it's a bit larger and bulkier, but the Dime is better the rest of the time because it's much sleeker.

And that is a heck of a bottle opener!

It's keychain tool week at Multitool.org!

Today we are looking at the Lumabiner from CRKT, featuring a locking carabiner, blade and LED flashlight!

Continuing on with Keychain Week, we have the Gerber Vise!  You may think we featured it a while ago, but in fact, that was the sister tool, the Splice- the main difference being the Splice has scissors and the Vise has pliers.

Read about the Splice here: https://multitool.org/tools/gerber/gerber-splice-review

We couldn't do Keychain Week at Multitool.org without a look at the Multitool.org version of the Raker Ring Tool.  This version was hand made by CRKT designer and Forged in Fire repeat contestant (and fan favorite!) Ray Kirk!

I dug up an old forum thread for this one!

Let's finish off Keychain Week at Multitool.org with this often forgotten about tool, the Schrade ST2, also known as the Tough Chip and produced back when Schrade was a brand you could count on!

When looking for a unique and useful tool you shouldn't overlook some oddballs like this Frog Tool from Gatco/Timberline!  Featuring a socket adaptor, valve stem removal tool and spark plug gapper it does things few other multitools have even tried!

Here's today's:

One of my personal favorite Wenger models is this EvoGrip S17.  It offers all the tools you need in a compact package with a locking blade so you can keep that red stuff inside your fingers where it belongs!

My initial thoughts years ago when I got it on an Adventurer was that it would be awkward and in the way.

I've been using Wenger knives with this lock release for years and have never felt it was awkward or in the way.

I really like it.

If you want to start your kids off with a safe but useful tool, it's hard to beat this one- aptly named My First Victorinox.  Featuring a handy array of functions that even adults will love, MFV differs mostly because of the rounded tip on the main blade to minimize accidents while learning!

In my experience with kids/teens, the saw is the number one cause of SAK injuries. I'm guessing it's just the cheapest/easiest to put in that slot, but it's funny to leave it in there on the "safety" model.

I may be hallucinating, but I m pretty certain there was a version at some point that was just the peanut butter blade and a combo tool at one point, but I have never seen or heard much about it.

Yes, they exist with 3 translucent colour, pink , blue and red. They are sold with a lanyard and a chain.

I think this kind of knife is a bit overpriced for what it offers.

While it may look like every other Victorinox Camper, this one is special- it was my first knife, and therefore responsible for everything at Multitool.org!

What was your first?

So you and Folder Beholder had the same first SAK  :tu:

I think the Camper has been a lot of people's first SAKs, but it's nice to know I'm in good company!   :D

For anyone looking at all of these photos, I have just started a new thread that I think will creep into the Social Media stuff- I call it 3DC and I feel like it could be very cool and fun!

Let me know what you think!
