The UKPK Salt was much better for cutting cheese than the Ladybug (because it's longer!)

It didn't do the shredding: just the slicing.

Day 24

I made an insert for the mini fridge door, to be able to store small things.
I'm gonna have to make another one for the smaller shelf, because chocolates drop through.

I use "Get out of the rain" pads.

For me they are "Got caught in the rain" pads.

Seems to be a distinct shortage of bacon in this challenge so time to change that :D

Day 24:
Inspecting the troops  :salute: :salute: :salute:

NB : I love FACOM vice-grips, but as they are really expensive, I only have one pair  :drink:.  nearly every pliers/pincers/grips I have are Knipex or Facom

Those Knipex end cutters look like a beast. I paid more for my compact bolt cutters, so why not have both? I've put the end cutters in my cart, so once I find a couple more items, they'll be in my next order.

I chose end cutters instead of compact CoBolt because I wanted to be able to use them as regular pincers (spoiler : it's not that easy, there is so much leverage that it tends to cut wire when wrapping).
I have no actual intended use for the CoBolt, but I think I'll get one someday [you never know when you'll need to cut barbwire to escape from zombies]

I carried my at-home kit at work today because I didn't feel like walking out to the shed to retrieve the at-work kit  :D

Day 24

Only a week left in the challenge, but I swapped out my knife today.  The Buck 285 is a great inexpensive knife, but I don't like the light handle for everyday use.  I'm putting it away and will use it for the role I originally intended for the knife - for use when possible loss or damage is too high for a more expensive knife.  I'm replacing it with a Kershaw Clash, another relatively inexpensive knife (mine was $34) with more heft to it.

Day 25

Time to ditch these Keen Ventures, have served me well but nothing like as well as the 12 years old boots from Columbia which are still in great condition

A mate of mine has had a pair of Columbia boots for over 20 years and still going strong

I really like Keen shoes, had a pair of Austins last a good 5 years of daily wear, the Ventures did about 3 but the seams blew out much quicker…still i’ve ordered some more as they’re very comfortable, look good and don’t require any maintenance like leather does, just won’t be expecting them to last as long as Austins or the Columbias

For a variety of reasons, I haven't been climbing in a month. It went better than I expected. I trimmed my toenails first, because my climbing shoes run pretty tight. No pictures of toenails, because eww.

There's a light dusting of snow around here, so everything's pretty.

Ladybug taking a nap in the snow. This is generally a bad idea, but knives don't tend to worry about hypothermia.

Maybe tomorrow I'll post a picture of my new Grigri, but I'm exhausted, and I'm going to bed.

No use for the tool kit so far today other than for the marker. Too busy shoveling:

Day 25:
Some tinkering, but also playing with the Sofirn SC21 that came in the mail today : it's a nice 16340 flashlight that is a good compromise between power and size (not great battery life with the 800mAh 16340 battery though)

DAY 25  The regular knife choices couldn't make the cut...literally.  The Vic cuts homemade bread better than the bread knife we normally use.

:iagree: :like: the Swiss Classic is a fantastic kitchen knife, the names a little confusing though, think they’d have come up with something a bit more culinary :dunno:  :tu:

Been doing a bit of yard tidying with the Bahco Laplander and opened a flea/tick/worm treatment for Coco with the Boker Atlas

Tools don't get much more dedicated than these:

Left blue thing: ATC. Right blue thing: Grigri.

These are both belaying/rappelling devices. I've been using the ATC (elegantly simple!) for almost 20 years, since learning that tying Munter hitches is pretty hard on ropes (I admit I learned to climb from a very old-school person.)

Many climbing gyms require Grigris for lead climbing because they have a built in clutch. I wasn't really in the market for one, because I've mostly been top roping forever. Recently, however, there was a sale, and the deal was too good to pass up. Time to take a lead course, I guess!

Day 25

I'm not a pouch guy, but I decided to buy a couple to mess around with. It looks looks like the "micro" sized one might be the best one for this challenge.  I was about to load my tools in it, then I decided I am completely over single-use tools.

The flathead helped break the airtight seal, but I don't know if do this again. If this goes wrong, you're looking at either a jar of wasted food, or a glass-sprinkled salad.

Let us know how you like it.  Someone recently recommended it to me, but it is very pricey compared to other chargers with similar or better charging ability.  I'm sure the cost is due to the slimmer size, but I would love to hear your review.

You're right... that's really what I mean.  I have a lot of single use tools in my toolbox and in my car.  I'm just tired of carrying them in my pocket.  :ahhh
