Your lanyards look great!  :like:
Thanks! Shame to hear about your Mauser; I strongly dislike the smurfy TSA.

More great photos from awl!  :like:

Minimal SAK Challenge Day 17

I was asked to add a can of corn to tonight's dinner. Naturally, the Bantam's awlsome combo tool got put to use.

Great posts today awl!

Day 17 Huntsman challenge

Today I used the awl to help open a tube of blueing. I also used the large screwdriver to open a can of paste wax.  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Day 17 - Minimal SAK Challenge

Late post.

Today the Spartan's tweezers were used to remove a splinter from my foot. Nothing serious, only annoying...
And sharpened a lead for my old high school days compass.

Day18 - Minimal SAK

No use today, I just played with the light on SwissLite - not the greatest, but good enough for dark office if nothing else is available.

They aren't the brightest, but when that's all you've got and it's really dark it's awesome.

Day 18 Huntsman challenge

Today the huntsman accompanied me on a walk through the woods. I had a package on the porch when I got home so the large blade did the opening. That's all for today so far.

Day 18 - Minimal SAK Challenge

Today, the Spartan was my blade of choice in my apple time!
(I really love to take a little time to apreciate a good apple)

Day19 - Minimal SAK

Today I encountered the main shortcoming of Classic style SAKs - lack of bottle opener. When I wanted to open the evening beer, I used Rambler at the end.
I could have used the SD tip on the SwissLite to lift the edges of the cap, but it is far from ideal (I prefer to open my bottles with some dignity :-)), especially if you can have Rambler with minimal bulk/weight penalty.

The Classic and the likes (including Executive) are OK for combo with some scissorless SAK, but not enough in my books on their own.

I agree. They are great tools but not great stand alone SAKs for my general use.  :tu:

Day 19 Huntsman challenge

Today is cold and windy with lake effect snow piling up outside. I stayed inside working on an antler powder measure. I used the saw for initial cut and the awl to ream out the hole and spout. I did finish off with some fine sandpaper.

Due to lack of money, I don't do that too much these days...but it is a good idea!

I have some thoughts on the bottle opener, but I'll hold off on sharing them until Day 30. Meanwhile, y'awl have shared more great photos, and...

Minimal SAK Challenge Day 19

More package opening today. This time, the BTCSD got the call. Some of the tape was nasty, so the blade needed a little cleaning afterwards. The screwdriver tip of the nail file worked very well for popping the spout on the Zippo fluid jug.

Day20 - Minimal SAK

I switched today to the last knife from my collection that qualifies for the Minimal SAK challenge - the Rambler. The undisputed king of utility among the small ones.

I added straight pin into the tweezers to further increase its abilitities.

No action today.

Day 19 - Minimal SAK Challenge

(Very) Late post.

The Spartan's small blade was used to carve a small knob to a little drawer (as requested by my wife).
I don't have pics from the final result, but according her, was good enough.

Day 20 - Minimal SAK Challenge

Today, the Spartan's small blade (very usefull, indeed) was used do cut some pieces from a Revell kit sprue. (A German Zerstorer 1936a - Narvik. A old Monogram kit re-issued by Revell.).
Nothing great, but enough to re-train myself for more complex models.

The Rambler.
The Rambler is a good one. Lots of utility in that small package!

The Spartan's small blade (very usefull, indeed) was used to cut some pieces from a Revell kit sprue.
I don't build plastic kits anymore, mostly because the price of paints and cements has really shot up. I'd like to see how yours turns out, though!

Minimal SAK Challenge Day 20

The Bantam has opened many boxes. Since the smurfy waste collectors finally picked up my recyclables today, it got to break down some boxes. Edge retention testing was necessary after spearing those boxes.

Plastic kits - I used to build them and always enjoyed that very much - especially airplanes from WW2. It is now on my list to do it again!

Day 20 Huntsman challenge

I spent all day going to VA for dentist appointment. 5 hour round trip, 2 hour appointment plus the mandatory early arrival for COVID testing. Not much time for huntsman use! I did use the small blade to open a box of girl scout cookies when I got home.
