OHO trekker scales swap
« on: January 17, 2022, 12:52:39 PM »
Just want to share. I have had a OHO trekker for a lot of years but can't stop drooling over the red 111mm scales. The thing holding me off has been the loss of the tweezer but today I could not stop myself and convince myself that it will be easier to find if lost when having red scales.

I do have a lanyard for it because I live on the west coast of Sweden and using this a lot around water when fishing or kayaking I wanted something to secure it and made a lanyard that fits two fingers while in use. Made a new one with reflective paracord (the same as I use as shoelaces on my boots and with a gitd tip so it should be even easier to find in the dark

But first a bath

I already have the scale swap badge but just wanted to share how nice it turned out even though most of you already knows how good it looks

Well I have a solution for that too and will have do dig out an old keyring I made and put it on my keys again. I made three of these, I have the prototype, my wife and someone on the forum has one. I think it was berry but I can't remember

Looks great.  :tu:

But if you’re missing the tweezers, you could’ve tried cutting the slot for them. Red tipped ones would look great there as well.

I thought about that but I wasn't sure the black rim would like that so I chickened out

Then put a black tweezer!  ;)

Just kidding. I’ve been wondering about modding one of those scales, but don’t own a set…so I have no idea if there’s some issue with cutting it out. I have a tendency to prefer slide locks for 111mm so I may not find out any time soon.

Thanks! My wife calls it her splinter and tic kit and has that together with a Leatherman style SC on her keys

Feels like two different materials put together so I was afraid that it would peel of with the normal use. I might be wrong but I only had one set of scales

Nice!

It might be only me, but whenever I see the dual density scales with the three stripes at the bottom, I immediately think Adidas.

Current SAKs:
58mm - Rambler, Alox Minichamp, SwissLite
84mm - Waiter, Alox Bantam
91mm - Cybertool M, Swisschamp
111mm - Forester Wood, Tradesman
other - Baker's, Floral

Thanks! Yes, it has been evaluated for a long time and I still like it. My wife has had a lot of use out of hers. Don't know if Barry uses his but at least he has the third
