We have a winter storm headed our way.

Part of the Ozarks are gonna get snow, some are gonna get sleet and ice and some unlucky bass-turds are gonna get just ice. Ice storms suck. I'd rather have 5 ft of snow than an inch of ice. As of right now we're in the "sleet and ice mix" part but we're pretty close to the line where it turns into straight ice so wish us luck.

I'm prepared. Our heater is propane and doesn't require electricity to run so we'll stay warm. I also have a portable propane heater and about a dozen cans of spare propane just in case. I have plenty of water and food. Candles, flashlights, hurricane lamps and plenty of fuel. Gobs of blankets and plenty of booze and tobacco. Of course I also have my multi-tools ready to go too.

Bring it on Mother Nature!!!!!

Ice is bad... Of course here we get both constantly- the snow melts because of the salt in the air then re-freezes making everything super slippery for much of December, all of January and February and most of March.

No,

You might remember that I take methadone everyday because of my back, shoulders and ankle. One of the side effects of it is it makes me absolutely CRAVE nicotine. If I don't watch myself I smoke like a chimney. Most of the time I can keep it under a half pack a day but unfortunately I don't think I'm gonna be able to quit until I get off this medicine.

There is one pain medicine out there that does NOT have a lot of side effects but it's slightly illegal.

Well it's turned to sleet for about the last hour. So it may not be as bad as we 1st thought. Although I must admit I was kinda looking forward to a bunch of ice. Mainly to test how well I've prepared everything.

That storm is gonna hit the home front tomorrow (While I,m away). But, the 10 kW genny at the house and 8.5 kW genny at the barn are ready to go. The BossLady won,t even lose internet or satellite TV. It,ll still suck going to the barn however...

Well you are sending the snow here. It is starting tonight and supposed to go into thursday. I still feel crappy but I got to go to work to check all the machines and I have to weld up a pusher that broke itself on a curb.

Well, it wasn't as bad as they were predicting, at least for us. But they are still getting ice about 50-75 miles SE of here. I think we're pretty much done with anything major here.

Well it was sleeting pretty hard all afternoon but it has switched over to snow. So I don't think there will be any major problems as far as losing electricity and such. However, the areas about 75 miles SE of me have gotten about an inch of freezing rain with another 1/2" to 1" predicted. It could get REAL ugly that way. It's also really rural so it'll be hard to help people out.

Its funny how a little sheet of 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick ice can cause so much trouble.

Well it came down in freezing rain and sleet and formed a nice crust all over everything. The freeways are passable but you can't get to them because all the side roads are covered in this crap! Folks here in Dallas, Texas area can't drive in bad weather anyway. I drove in a storm like this before and if the drive usually takes 30 minutes expect 2 hours in this stuff. I'm staying home and watch old Red Dwarf episodes!

Its 22 degrees F. outside so hopefully when the sun comes out it should not take too long before its gone.

I can't imagine not dealing with snow and ice. What's really funny is that even though we get snow, ice, sleet, freezing rain and worse every year, people here still can't drive in it! What's worse is that the vehicles you see in the ditch most often have four wheel drive! Folks think they are invincible when they drive a 4x4. What they forget is that while they may have more drive wheels on the ground, they also have a higher center of gravity. Oh yeah, and it doesn't matter how many drive wheels you have, if none of them are on stable ground they aren't doing you any good!

So, regardless of where you live, be careful out there!

I believe it's that way everywhere

There are some ppl that can drive in bad weather and then there is the idiot with the jacked up 4 wheel drive truck or SUV that thinks they can go anywhere even places reg 4X4 can't go and they are usually right cause they are in the ditch upside down

No place I would want to go in my 4 wheel drive
