Day 01 :woohoo:
Here we go!  My 110 came in leather but I prefer this nylon sheath because it fits tighter and doesn't rattle.

DAY 01

When the 101 110 comes out of storage and doesn't see its shadow, a challenge commences.

Great, I don't even know what knife I'm using...

Day 01 :woohoo:
Here we go!  My 110 came in leather but I prefer this nylon sheath because it fits tighter and doesn't rattle.

I moved to the nylon sheath for my 110s as well. I think it sits better, closes more securely, needs no maintenance, and it's a lot easier to clean. I got my first with the older Walmart budget 110 (which was the standard brass/Dymondwood); which was $30 when I bought it in 2017.  Before that, I had the standard low-rise 110 leather sheath that existed with the first models, and lasted through 2005 (my first, and oldest 110 is a '74-80)

The ONE knife I'm planning on buying this month is the budget $20 standard 110LT from Walmart, and I'll be getting a third one of these sheaths.

Off to a great start, y'awl! I've got a year to get a 110 in my hand (and, ideally, myself out of the city).

Day 1: go big, or go home. I'm a guy who can do 99% of what I need with a small lockback folder 3" or smaller. I normally don't go over 4" for EDCs, but the Buck 110 family, Schrade LB-7 family, and the Cold Steel Voyager are likely an exception.

I cleaned out my work pants, and thus the Cold Steel Voyager L I'm transferring from. I don't see a site that lists all the variations in detail, but I think it's pretty early, as it's made in Japan, has the early handle, but it has a steel (not plastic) clip. I bought it (but not cheap--$50 paired with a beat-up Mini Tuff Lite with a bent blade tip) just to see how a Voyager would do, and I like it. The blade is really beat up, and I had to reprofile some damaged serrations with a tapered rod (did a crappy job, but they cut better than they did).  Currently, I'm stuck between about a half-dozen knives ranging in price from $30-$100. Thus, I'm not afraid to use it like a work knife, not a collectible. Heck, I had to use it to cut a ton of vines out of a fence I had to fix just yesterday. I'm thinking about replacing it. I am going by my local knife store, as I want to see how each knife is in hand. I think the current handle is ugly and weird, and my local knife store doesn't stock the Tanto variant of the "L".

The Buck is a really good substitute, at a cost half the Voyager. I do like the Voyager's handle better.

Day 1

With S30V, nickel silver, and G10, the 110 Pro is perhaps the most durable version of the 110 ever.

At 7.7 ounces, though, it may also be the heaviest.  This is one of the reasons it mostly lives on my desk, where it makes short work of…well, pretty much anything that crosses its path.

I thought maybe you had a little too much Vinho Verde at lunch

If you knew any portuguese, you'd know there's no such thing as too much Vinho Verde/Maduro/Tinto/Rosé/Branco at lunch/before lunch/after lunch.

DAY 02

Despite its size and weight, the 110 is a great slicer. Here it is at snack duty.

DAY 2  I was out at a plant restoration project this morning.  That's a fancy way of saying we removed non-native and invasive plants.
