Day 8

The grandkids are with us and I did not get a chance to take a picture while they were awake:

Cool! How would you say the Klein compares to a good ol' Camillus 27?

I took some time this morning to give you a better assessment.

The Klein and the Cammy are very similar. Both are solid, substantial feeling knives. Both have a slipjoint spearhead blade and a scraper/screw driver blade with liner lock. The Klein blade has a easier pull, but the Cammy will not break your fingernail. I like both of them better than the SOG's TL-29:

I am now hoping to get a Buck 812. I don't care for hawkbill blades, but it is Buck's version of a TL-29. That's good enough for me.

Not sure if I should say this in a Crunch thread but if cost is a concern then try the 100mm Knipex pliers for your EDC needs. Or 150mm actual locking pliers for….locking plier needs?
I know and I have good knipex pliers and I rarely have needs for locking pliers why is one reason I have a hard time justifying the cost. More want than need

Day 8

Late posting.. I didn't get home until late.  I didn't use the Crunch, but I carried it all day.  It was almost unnoticeable in my pocket.  :tu:

In support of this challenge and on "advice"  :twak: of Mrs Surge the Crunch & MXBS were utilised to top up the boiler in order that she will be able to float about a bit in the bath with the radiators on full afterburn  :ahhh

TBF: The pressure had dropped rather suddenly below the operable pressure and didn't work  ::)
They don't like it up 'em!

Nice pics  :tu:  and they got me thinking... our wives should love our multitool obsession because it makes us eager to use them to fix things around the house.

Yeah, I like your line of reasoning, Rich  :tu:

However, Management's response is the following:
If a multi tool has multiple tools to handle various jobs, why are multiple multi tools, most of which look the same to her, needed?

I haven't found a good response to that yet  :dunno:

Suggest to her that the same argument (multiple items that have the same purpose) would also apply to house decorations, outfits, shoes, purses, etc...   :twak:

Haha!  Just kidding!  Don't say anything and keep your collection hidden in the garage like the rest of us.

Thanks for the detailed assessment. I need to get to posting some photos of my 27s. I think I posted a photo of my WWII-era TL-29.

:iagree: If nothing else, it'll make us more capable in that regard.

Enjoyed reading your exchanges and very relatable .  I use to ship my MTs to work to avoid questions. This work from home business is spoiling all that fun and excitement.

Day 8

No bottle opener, no problem. Tried the adjustment bolt, started to bite then slipped. Then tried the plier jaws, same result. Using the handles and linkage arm as shown in the pic worked. Yay!!!

Day 9

I haven't had a need for the Crunch the last couple of days, so here is a pic with my backup work knife:

I was looking for a solution for a problem that did not exist, haha. I assumed no can opener means no bottle opener. Thanks Rich.

Thanks for supporting Surge. Is that a way to divert cold water back to the boiler?

Housework and a little catching up on other things so there wasn’t any task that needed the Crunch.

Not exactly the most quiet weekend but no tasks required the use of the Crunch nor any other tool.

Day 10

Still no use for the Crunch yet. I took a few days off from work to let some of the built-up stress ease off, and I spent it in my shed and with the grandkids. But I start back tomorrow, so I should find some uses for it.

There may be some new mods coming out of my shed in the upcoming weeks  ;)

Nice usage! And hot water is indeed an important item for keeping the Mrs happy  :tu:

Great work, y'awl! Perhaps needless to say, this challenge is making me want a Crunch.

Day 10

One off the Honey Do List. Fenced off a small section to plant some veggies and keep the dog away. Just to show us  her disapproval the dog chewed on a plastic decorative cap on the gate while I was installing the other panels

The Crunch did the small tasks while the heavy lifting was done by a piece of 2x4 and a rubber mallet.

Somehow that fenced section is to my liking. Wish we had space or literal land for something like that.

Day 10

Great pics, everyone  :tu:

I was working in the yard and around the house all day, and the Crunch came in handy several times... a quick lawnmower adjustment, opening several bags (fertilizer, bird seed, etc), tightening a camera mount, loosening a stuck cap...

If there’s one thing the Crunch can do it’s that it can function as a 3rd hand. Here’s me having the Crunch hold the nut while I turn the screw while I hold everything else from falling on the floor….
