Day 27

The matte pocket clip on the shiny tool looks a little off... I think I need to polish it a little.

Thanks Rich
It has only taken me 37 years to attain this skill level  :D

For years I have beat myself up for not continuing on to graduate school and making a career in math. I have come to embrace my profession only in the past 2 or 3 years. This forum has helped me in that regard.

Nice addition! Will it be carried?

I'd say you've done well. I, on the other hand, often regret not re-enlisting and taking my next four shots at getting promoted to E-5.

Hmmm... maybe.  I purchased it because I thought it had a perfect SAK tool set (especially the type of Philips head it has); however, now that I have it in my hands, it's a little too nice to use.

That's what I was thinking. While I like the patina that a BO Leatherman or a Case with CV blades will acquire, I cannot say the same about SAK scales with the print worn off.

Day 30

Here we are at Day 30, and I find myself in a surprising place - I started this challenge not being a fan of the Crunch (although I like the design), but now I find myself not wanting to put it away.  It’s not the locking pliers that I love… in fact, I still find the pliers a little difficult to deploy and they fall apart when I open them too wide.  What I really love is the size along with the pocket clip and the serrated sheepsfoot blade.

Thank you to everyone who joined this challenge with me for either a badge of their own or to just drop by with an occasional pic or encouragement.

Day 30

I wasn't going to buy a Crunch this year. But when the fear of them being discontinued drove the used prices substantially higher, I looked and found one new for a decent price (though higher than msrp).

I am both amazed and a little disappointed in its design. Amazed at how slim it folds up. Disappointed in how easily it comes apart while trying to use the pliers. I assume that more use would improve my ability to use the pliers. But I rarely use locking pliers, so I doubt I will get much better at using them.

Overall, I am happy that I have them. But they will go back in the drawer with some MTs.

Thanks to Rich for letting me horn in on his challenge, and to rishardh joined us for awhile. Hopefully everything is well with Zephon and he will reappear. Also thanks to Farmer X and to the man, the myth, the legendary Poncho65 for cheering us on.
