Heres one of the reviews:

"The appearance of this item when I received it was very nice. It was packaged well. It came with a battery, but no staples for the the stapler. The worse was that the calculator does not even work. The numbers that appear on the screen are not the number that you enter with the keys. It was a disappointment.

I wouldn't be suprised if it's because of a dead battery and the user has no clue that it needs to be replaced.
