Day 12:

No uses today.

Nice looking green and brew.

Sos persuaded me to get one. I got the Nano. Great little stove. Not a 3-course meal stove, mind you, but for a small pot or fry pan, they work great. Yes, with just some twigs, it is easy to boil up water for a brew. Depending on various factors, you may need to add a few extra twigs as you go, but there is a handy window through which fresh fuel can be added.  :tu:

I got mine direct from Firebox. Really nice people to deal with.

I keep thinking about getting the larger original size.....
I don’t remember it taking anything more than “hey all I love mine”.  Before settling on the original, check out the new Freestyle; not cheap but work of art.

DAY 12  Chopping a sub sammich for supper.

(Image removed from quote.)
That looks delicious.  Yesterday I was going to get a sub from my favorite shop, but it was closed.  Made a sandwich but just didn’t cut it.

Day 12

It was a light day, with some package opening duties. A new reflective keychain from Road Runner Bags.

Day 19

Last day for the alt scales, as I have a Huntsman Plus sitting at the post office a block from the apartment. Overall, enjoyed the nylon more than the wood. From a practical standpoint, I know it's better than the cellidor, but I still think I prefer the classic aesthetically. No uses today.

The stove is from Firebox.  The one pictured is the new Freestyle, but they make 3 other.  I also have the Nano which is the smallest.

You can easily boil water using just twigs, I do it frequently.  The guy who designed it has videos making full on meals using the different versions with small sticks.

Here is a picture of me hearing water for coffee and oatmeal over the smallest Nano stove.

Thank you both for the info  :salute:   :salute:
Looks like exactly the piece of kit I need!

Really like the idea of not having to carry a cumbersome canister of fuel with me. I recently bought a new canister of fuel for my stove got out into the wild country only to find out that during the hike the canister thingy had broken on the top and would not connect with the stove  :twak:
After that experience I decided it was time to change up my kit.  :tu:
I’m so glad you posted the stove pic SOS I remember asking you about it sometime ago and then promptly forgetting. I’m definitely gonna buy one of these stoves. Now just need to decide which size!

Day 9:

I was very busy and traveling this weekend, so I’ve fallen behind in posting.

On Thursday I tried to use the large driver to fasten a hose clamp around a coolant line in my car, but it was too hot and I abandoned the attempt.

I drove up to North Texas to help my sister move into her first apartment. The Explorer’s small blade cut lots of packing tape, and the large flat driver helped me assemble a table.

Day 13:

A busy day for the Explorer. Among other things.....

Trimmed a short length of bank line.

That was used to hang a new bird feeder so it could swing freely...

Of course, new feeder means more seed....

Later opened some packaging for a gardening tool and clipped the tag off a new pack....

T'was the kind of day where a small pocket knife really came in handy!   :tu:

DAY 13

Not much service for the Huntsman today. Did use the awl for the first time to open packaging, removing a S-Biner from a card. I used those scissors to trim up my nails before work as well.

Day 20

Today I unplugged my laptop at work, and almost pulled the whole outlet cover off. Not sure how it got so loose, but the cap lifter driver rectified it handily. Huntsman Plus came in the mail today, but will need some TLC before it can get carried, it's dull and very grimey. I'm a little worried about the spring on the opener/awl layer, the tools are very stiff and don't seem to sit quite right. Hopefully a good scrub and some canned air will set it right.
