Day 14:

Nice hike today. Very windy and cold. I swear I thought I saw snow flurries for a few moments.

The wind muffled my noises and scent, and I was able to sneak up on five different deer during the hike.

Day 12:
When we returned home from our trip on Sunday, I did some light pruning in the garden. I’m trying to keep my plants alive in this crazy heat we’re having in Houston.

SteveP - Day 15

Had a chance to do something other than opening boxes.   :D

I had to put in a screw eye so used the Explorer's awl to start the hole, then used the hook to screw it in.

I'd heard of the hook trick before, but hadn't had a chance to try it until now. Worked pretty well!

DAY 15

My work takes me to different locations. Found some shade under this gnarled barked California Pepper tree. Figured a lil glamour shot for the Huntsman today couldn't hurt.

Food prepped with that large blade. Used the saw to cut a branch I found about to make a barrel bead of sorts for the lanyard. Used that small blade until I realized the branch was to small for my needs.

Find the Huntsman to be a good four layer so far.

Finishing cleaning and sharpening the Plus. Excited to carry it to work tomorrow and get a pen for it this weekend. Jumping on the pet bandwagon with one of Pumpkin ignoring it, and a candid.

DAY 15
Used the Explorer plus scissors to cut some tags off a pair or flip flops
The can opener to break down a cardboard box.
Used the small blade to whittle down some sticks for tinder.
No action shots but some beauty shots at an impromptu oak plank fire  :salute:

Not a lot of use today.  Some minor cutting of a label, but mostly just standby while I did some research and note taking.

Still playing catch-up. Monday was an uneventful day at the office; the Explorer’s services weren’t required. So here’s a beauty shot.

Why so? I hope you're doing okay with that crazy flooding going on in your neck of the woods.

I'd heard of the hook trick before, but hadn't had a chance to try it until now. Worked pretty well!
Indeed it does.

As much as I enjoy your posts and seeing you around,  I can understand.  If the challenge is feeling like a hassle instead of fun, then it is defeating the purpose.

Day 16

It was a light duty day today. The FX mostly hung out and made me look good. But the weekend holds great promise. I’ll be camping in the mountains for a couple days. The saw will likely get some use.
