As a Rugby type; even I am appalled that FIFA awarded the World Cup to that great footballing nation of....Qatar  :dunno: :facepalm: (idiots)

At least they are a progressive country and fully embrace modern values and are welcoming all members of all communities with open arms  ;) Oh wait  :think:

Yeah, it really did feel like a money-over-merit decision. Qatar hosting never made much sense football-wise, and all the controversies around human rights and conditions for workers just made it worse. The whole thing left a bad taste, even if the matches themselves ended up being entertaining.

Yeah, it sure seemed back then that the venue was purchased.   :whistle:

Still, I enjoyed the heck out of the World Cup, which is the only time I watch football/soccer.
