Day 14"

I had bought an electric blanket earlier this month, and figured it was time to get the thing out and fish the wiring from the outlet, to the foot of the bed, to the outlet. It's already dipped below 60, and I bet it won't be long before it dips below 40.

Day 15
I cut some palm fronds with the Buck 112s.  This is normally something I would do with a serrated blade because palm fronds are fibrous. It is very much like cutting a piece of hemp rope.  The Buck knives are exceptionally sharp though, so they were able to get through the fronds without difficulty.

Day 15 (way too soon to be at the halfway point!):

A busy day for the 112 today. First up, opening a large parcel containing foldable fencing to be used to erect a defensive barrier to manage [apparently] rabid dogs in the house.

Later the Ranger got used to trim out some beef bones. The meat got frozen for use in chili later. The bones were converted into dog treats.

After a quick wash-up, the Ranger harvested some tomatoes and basil for a lunch salad for the humans....

Day 15 of 30

Ranger has been busy today serving as an EDC tool.
Trimmed ends on new lanyard for my kitchen 684.
Opened packaged that contained a vintage Buck 704 in a custom made felt pocket sheath. Knife is like new and hair popping sharp.
And after riding in pocket for errands, sliced a now ripe peach for desert/snack.

Results awl present in single picture.

Now to gather trash for disposal pickup on Friday.

I really getting the impression some of you folk are pampering your Rangers🤪

Day 14 of 30

Mowing lawn yesterday cut short by rain!  So finished the task this afternoon.   I selected the Ebony Drop point for pocket carry.  Not bad, stayed at bottom of pocket and I knew it was present and accounted for.
Some glamour shots after putting swing back in place.

Nice cutting test, after seeing that youtube video by Felix immler and comparing them on and off over the years(mainly in SAK 111mm), I am still not 100% sure serrated edge has much advantage over the smooth edge on fibrous material.  Sometimes it felt 'sharper' because it is sharpened on one side, but the flip side is it might be more prone to roll and caught on material, depending how the serration is done.

I need to find mine. I bought it for the Ranger Challenge I, and as I understand it, it got retired in 2019. I guess it was a poor seller. I felt it was the most versatile. I often carried it in the sheath when I was wearing a belt, and it fits great in my pocket without weighing me down like the brass one. The Slims are really unnoticeable in a pocket (and especially the 112), but when it comes to real use, they aren't very comfortable when used for hard cutting, or for extended periods.

Nice! I purchased a lot of stuff from the same seller. Among them were an M4 and derringer that functioned just like the real thing, and even had functioning ejectors. I ended up losing the tiny, proprietary ammo (which had a bullet that was separated from its case upon firing) that came with them. Balled-up paper is easily replaced.

I have some defibrillators that I bought with that group I bought for an action figure project. I'll show you what I did with them tomorrow.

I had purchased a pair of Barbie Paramedic dolls shortly after they came out for $5 each on Amazon, with plans to move them to either a Made to Move or a proper 1:6 female body. I then noticed that the small "petite" body had been used, and then realized I had a couple of 1:9 (8-inch) Breyer riders that had full articulation that I ended up using instead. The clothes surprisingly fit well.

Base figures--Breyer Veterinarian Laura and Brenda Breyer. Breyer changed the heads to something much more doll-like in 2013. Brenda, I think, was released in a gift set in 2008.

Clothing--Barbie Paramedic; but Laura's pants came with her. The boots fit the much smaller Breyer figures better than the footwear Breyer supplied.

Stretcher/cot--Ringside Collectibles Deluxe Folding Stretcher (Stryker-inspired).

Spineboard--repurposed tag off Jansport backpack (soon to be replaced with something more appropriate--there's a 3D printed scoop stretcher on Shapeways that's said to be 1:9 scale)

Bags--Duffel Bag from Barbie Paramedic and black case from Breyer Veterinarian Laura

Stethoscope and Plasma Bottle--GI Joe (I think either Vietnam Nurse or 40th Anniversary Action Medic)

AED--Banai Nihon Koden

Oxygen mask and IV bottle--Playmobil (while overscale for Klickys--they work great with 1:9, and tend to be cheap--I have a medic coming that includes several small surgical instruments that will work great at this scale)

Syringe and gauze roll--Breyer Veterinarian Laura. I think, however, that that syringe is actually dewormer paste.

 :iagree:

I'd been meaning to get both 110 and 112 LT's for ages, but never got around to it  :twak:

I've the 112 slim pro with micarta and love it, feels a little thicker than the standard slim but probably not, only got the orange slim last week and immediately realised I'd prefer the LT.
I really like it and like you say, unnoticeable in a pocket, but feels a little too slim to me

The LT's are perfect IMO. I don't really need a pocket clip or oho and they feel much closer to their brass counterparts

I'd been looking for the 112 LT when I got the slim but couldn't find one, came across the 110 LT for a very good price so snapped it up.
Did some more searching earlier and found a local retailer with just a couple of the 112 LT left in stock so thought id grab it while I still can....can see this becoming my fave carry

Good thing you did. The one knife I managed to lose is long gone. It'll probably be found if USS Peleliu is scrapped.

Slightly late again, and another no use day...not even a package to open or a box to break down. :ahhh
