Stay safe Fireman and AlanK along with any other Florida members of MTo!

🙏🙏🙏

Thanks.  To be clear, we're not in the direct path of Ian, so we're reasonably secure.

Thanks LC.  My weather radios have been going off frequently in the last couple of hours.  We were already under a flood advisory and tornado watch and the tropical storm watch was just upgraded to a tropical storm warning, which means tropical storm conditions within 24 hours.  I hope anybody in Ian's path is ready to go.  On the south eastern coast it should pretty much just be a rain event for us as we will probably get hit by the back end of the storm's feeder bands.  Still, we'll have to keep an eye on the news for any changes.  The next advisory will be around 11PM.  All hands clear the weather deck, batten down the hatches and seal all water tight doors. :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

It has been raining all day.  Here's a shot of the buck 112s next to a weather radio taken moments after the Tropical Storm Warning was issued.  The pertinent information is scrolling across the screen.

This knife appears to be making a return trip to Idaho.  Unsure if going to request a refund or not.  Maybe a 113 Ranger IS in my future.

Sorry about that!

Buuuuuuut.....the 113 is kinda nice........  :dunno:

Day 27:

Opened up a popular snack stick used for dog training. Unfortunately.......the snack stick is just as popular with the trainers as it is with the trainees.....

So disappointed 😞

There is a gap between the frame and lock bar, thick enough to slide a piece of paper through on each side of the center pin.

Wide enough it can be photograph.

It would appear this slipped through Quality Control.  Another minor annoyance is that as a BOTM and a Ranger, they did not utilize a 50th anniversary emblem on the tang😢

I would assume that to be normal with the screwed versions. I see the exact same on my Ranger Sport.
Things are not combined as flush as the "pin and polish away" like originals.

You're south of me if you got the later TS warning.  We put panels up because we're close enough to the edge of the cone that we don't want to get caught with our panels down.  :ahhh  We're as ready as we can be .

So sorry to hear.  Mine is also making a return trip but not for the QC issue like yours. I did not realize that the pocket clip would not be reversible, like the other 112s I’ve owned with pocket clips.  Being left-handed this was an issue for me.  There was also a scuff between one of the bolsters and handle where there was a brownish tan coloring.

It is funny you mention 113, because I have a custom one on its way that I ordered last month.

If Adventure Girl is anything like Fisher, being desirable to the trainers make it even more desirable for the trainee, adding to the training benefit.

Took a glamour shot of the Ranger while Fisher and I were enjoying the outside.  I love the fall when the temperatures are in the 70s and the sun is out.

When we showed our first English Cocker, many of the presenters put the reward treats in their mouth and would go outhouse to hand to dog, for rewards, I suspect some would’ve swallowed.

That one is a classic Buck.  Paper stone I believe is the handle material.

Day 27: the two Bucks I had and used today.

Buc k no longer makes a true LT 501, so the 284 in 2HO and OHO is about as close as you can get. I had originally bought this one like-new for $10 as an EDC, but had put it in my display case as Jennmar, the company etched on the blade has a location less than an hour from her--and they do a lot in the coal industry, with their main product being roof bolts. But, I finally put it to use today. I think it's the perfect sweatpants knife.

112 was in the work pants.

Day 26:

Puppy or no puppy.... No chicken, no challenge!   :viking:

(Image removed from quote.)

OK, these chicken challenges always remind me, 112 or 110, why I love that pointy, pointy clip pointy. The Ranger made short work of piecing out this chicken. And cleaned up easy, too.  :tu:

(Image removed from quote.)

The chicken pieces got dressed with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Then ended up on the grill. I kept it simple just in case the puppy want to sample my grill skilz. Yes, I believe I have risen in Adventure Girl's estimation.....

(Image removed from quote.)

I been under the weather the last few days and some how missed the Challenge Chicken.    :ahhh

Hopefully they'll fix that. Sure is a nice-looking knife otherwise.

Glad to hear the Floridians are doing okay. And great photos and uses from awl! :tu:

Day 27

Just the usual package opening today, but I did find some good reading material when I moved a bookcase. If only I'd found it during the Soldier On! challenge...

LC is correct it is an old discounted Paper stone handle. It is the thickness of the traditional handles but much lighter.

I’m not a collector but came across this one used for a nice price.

0300 hours. I went out to have a look around between squalls and figured I'd better post early today in case I lost power.  The Buck 112s on a planter that has filled with water from the rain.  It might be hard to tell from the picture but there was a couple of inches of water sitting there.
