So disappointed 😞

There is a gap between the frame and lock bar, thick enough to slide a piece of paper through on each side of the center pin.

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

Wide enough it can be photograph.

It would appear this slipped through Quality Control.  Another minor annoyance is that as a BOTM and a Ranger, they did not utilize a 50th anniversary emblem on the tang😢

This knife appears to be making a return trip to Idaho.  Unsure if going to request a refund or not.  Maybe a 113 Ranger IS in my future.
LC, like Alan has said, if you get in touch with Buck fast enough, hopefully they still have one that has no gap.

Just from my 112 Sport experience, it has the same gaps.  But at least, the grind are even and there is no up-and-down play, or side-to-side play, I am thankful for that.  Many 110 or 112 I owned do suffer some form of QC issues in the past. :dunno:

This guy makes J Neilson look like he takes it easy…..and no idea why he’s wearing a gas mask, but if we needed anymore convincing Buck knives are tough, this’ll do it

I like how at 10:27 he's pointing his gun to his foot.

I'd have given him a like if he had managed to shoot and stab himself in one video.

DAY 28  Same view as yesterday plus 4" of rain and counting.  We're stuck in a smurfing rain band that won't quit.

(Image removed from quote.)
I hope you didn't have any damage.  It seems to have stopped raining up here but it is still very windy.  I haven't gone outside yet since I just woke up, and don't have any shoes on, but I don't appear to have any damage.  The standing water passed the sidewalk and was up to my driveway, but my neighborhood has good drainage.

Day 28

112 attended coffee duty this morning.  I don't usually carry my knife via the pocket clip, but if I do, I think I would get along with this clip just fine.

Day 28:

Hectic day for me. Hope you guys are doing well!   :tu:

I was headed off to take a shower and emptied out my pockets:

1. Bandana. Always.
2. Clicker. Used to train dog. Used by professions, which I apparently am not......
3. Self-defense rope.  There's no way I could walk across my yard without this invaluable tool.
4. Midnight Manager. Light used to find dog, take dog outside, clean up after dog, find glasses dropped in grass, find handle of back door, wake up spouse, go back to bed.
5. Survival lighter with 1" tape. No uses, but contemplating self-immolation in protest of puppy antics.
6. Coin pouch with dog training treats bribes.
7. Neglected challenge knife

Ranger Challenge II
Day 28

After 28 days of use, it was time to touch up the edge on the Ranger. Went ahead and touched up the Sharpfinger while I was at it.

Day 28 of 30

Dry day today.  Continued fall/winter cleanup preparation before leaves start falling.

Inserted Blue Drop Point in back pocket, just posed for photo time, only time it saw light.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 28: Ditched the clip, cut some apples while testing the ergonomics. They are MUCH better without the clip. I think Buck, however, should've not used a steel backspacer--it makes it MUCH heavier than the Bantam models.

Pretty much, the answer I get from basically every hunter I knew is that their field dressing knife is a 110--and fixed blades usually some Buck. I planned to go fixed blade, but the 110 works. I need to sharpen the CPM-154 drop point LT "Shield" I have and locate my 110LT Slim Select.

I'm aiming towards the standard 110 or a Walmart 110LT due to the fact they're the cheapest to replace. I'm leaning towards the "Shield" and my great-uncle's '74-80 in 440C for edge retention. Seriously considering splurging for an S30V Alaskan Guide. It's both gorgeous and an improvement.  Another buddy has used a '70s-era Hibben-design Browning since it was new (according to him, his wife gave it to him on their first wedding anniversary). I have a 112 clone that I love the feel of--but it is technically my Granddad's, so I can't use it.

Currently, with me, it's a tossup between the Sharpfinger (will have to find an original--but I do have a well-worn gut hook version on hand), Mora Companion, and Buck 110.    I'd love to try a TOPS Lioness (seeing as it's designed for small hands), but my local knife store doesn't have one.

The photo looks like crap. The phone was on the charger, so I used the tablet. Awful camera, no flash.

My tablet awlso has a subpar camera. I never use it anymore. Would sure like to have a DSLR, though.

Great photos and uses from awl! :tu:

Day 28

Got some Jolly Rancher gummis today. The 112 makes up for the lack of any orange candy.
