I'm a Sumo fan myself. Very happy that Tamawashi won the September basho. I think he deserved it.  Not a Terunofuji fan but I was sorry he had to drop out and I do hope he gets his knees taken care of so he can return in November.   I hope your wife enjoys the cards.

Great pictures again  :like:

Day 29 of 30, September has just slipped by into fall😉

My day was mixed, had updates from friends in Fort Meyers and another in Tampa, Foort Meyers ok but lost both vehicles to storm surge.  Tampa high winds and rain.

So I slept in, then lunch with a friend to catch up discuss future Cabo trip and update each on grandkids and sports.

A couple errands and remembered Ranger was in back pocket, took this picture before locking truck up and son pulled into driveway with homemade bean soup and cornbread they had for dinner.
Good day!

Day 29
I wish I had more that I could do that would require a knife.  I feel like my entire month has been mostly glam shots.   It doesn't bode well for the coming fixed blade challenge but I will have to find some legitimate uses to properly test the new knives. :pok:

Thank you and it was very tasty.   I will be better when I have the second serving in a couple of days, most of the vegies, and ham chucks did not make it to the bowl tonight as I poured instead of scoop😉

Glam shots or not!  The knife we select to carry, is as much about how it appears in our eyes as much as it functions.

Buck 112 Rangers check both boxes, regardless the model you pick and place in your hand. When needed it will CUT!

My wife didn’t even know the cards existed until I gave them to her as a surprise.  She loves them and was especially happy that she got a Mitakeumi card because he is her favorite.

What a great challenge this has been definitely one of my faves, thanks to Nix for the organizing and everyone for taking part :hatsoff: :tu:

Probably just as well it’s day 30, if I get any more 112’s not sure I can afford the matching watches

Cheers

Day 30
I didn't expect to post so early, but a smoke detector started chirping meaning the battery needed to be replaced (why does it always happen at 1:00 in the morning?) and people were threatening me with heavy, blunt objects if I didn't fix it, so it couldn't wait until morning.  I used the Buck 112 slim pro to pry the old battery out of its compartment.  Sorry the picture is blurry. The light isn't great in the hallway between the bedrooms.
The Buck 112s are amazing.  They cut palm fronds, slashed open bags of charcoal, river rock, and soil, and they opened coconuts; and they did it in an easily carried size.  Thanks to Nix for organizing this challenge and to everybody who played along and posted so many great photos. I also owe a special thanks again to both Sherry (Sos24),  and Gordon (LoopCutter) for sending me the incredible and mind changing Buck 112s that I used in this challenge.

DAY 30  For a while I thought I'd have to finish in October, but we got power back last night.  My final pic is of what I thought Rangers would be eating today, cooked over my Solo stove, but I can go back to being a soft non-Ranger.  I've looked at my 112 and wondered why I didn't buy a 110, but the challenge has me asking why I have 110s when the 112 does so much.

Thanks to all for your concern yesterday, it does mean a lot.  We do have a tree issue that has to be resolved by my neighbor, or failing that, me, but that's all.  So many others in FL are not so fortunate.  If you're moved to help them in any way, the Red Cross and Salvation Army are always on scene early.

Thanks to everyone in the challenge!  I love the pics (especially dogs), and you all own some incredible 112s!

Really cool to see Sumo fans here, I don't follow the tournament to know the latest updates.  But always admire the athleticism and the sacrifice they made to be able to compete.

Day 30

Thank you to Nix for hosting this wonderful challenge.  This year, welcoming a new born into the family in the middle of a challenge, makes it all that much memorable.  It very much reminded me other MTO challenges I have done while little guy was still an infant.  It is also very cool to see the Buck of the month is also the blackout 112, and nice to see some of us getting one.

I got a chance to carry and use the 112 Sport towards the end, and I think this is a pretty nice cross over between the traditional 112 and the modern Slim version.  It keeps all the original form factor which many has grown to love over the years, but add in a few new twists--it uses more modern material, easy to dissemble/re-assemble and much lighter weight.  In fact, I think the Sport handle is even wider than the original, so it will fill up a hand nicely.

Wish you all have a great day, and see you in next one!  :tu:

Day 30 of 30

The end of September, the end of the Ranger II Challenge, the end of Hummingbird season(feeders coming down today), so sad!  It is true time does fly by when having fun.

An update, my BOTM Ranger will be returned for repair, shipping label received and it will ship today back to Idaho.

Friends in Florida, including MTo buddies, Alan and Fireman, are now drying out and picking up debris.

Comis has an additional priority, a little girl! Life will never be the same in his world. Daddies little girl will rule.

Puppies have control as well.

Nix is sneaking dog treats, GA1dad can bbq,  SOS and wife are Sumo fans plus several others👍, Echotech is searching for a 112LT, McStitchy and Pacu are being cool in style!
Cody6268 impresses with his collection of miniatures collection and David with his photography skills and patches. FarmerX and the Orange Slim adding color to every contribution.

Another month and my Lego kit is yet in the box! My three most used Rangers posing for last day honors.

First of all, I accidentally forgot Day 29:

Really didn't do much but run errands.

Did finally pick up the Matchbox Hitch and Haul Rodeo set. Changes in safety regulations meant the OLD Pony Trailer first released in the '60s didn't work with newer castings as hitches on the back are now much thicker, and the tongue on the old version has a bottom lip that won't hook over. 4-5 years ago completely new tooling was introduced, only slightly looking like the old one; dropping the rear ramp. The graphics and colors on this version were loud, and I'd put it back at least 3 times in the past two months. Still hadn't sold, so I finally bought it.

Thinking now I'll just buy a very play worn British-made Lesney Matchbox Pony Trailer and file that bottom "lip" off the tongue.

Day 30.

So far today, I did some brush cutting in the chicken's lot, there were some thorns that would just plain wreck a coat.

Decided I'd go with belt carry. The nylon sheath is my preferred 110 sheath. The cheapest to replace, easiest to clean and maintain, and it also offers horizontal and vertical carry.

I got lazy, and forgot to send my standard 112 off before the challenge started. It's a '74-80 that had a worn-out blade.

The three lightweights I used all had ergonomics issues--the 112LT was the best out of the three, but I felt the diamond texture on the handle was somewhat too aggressive. The 442 has a chintzy feeling handle and the same texturing issues of the 112LT. The Slim Ranger was oddly balanced, uncomfortable, and heavier than needed due to the steel backspacer on the end.

I don't have the 482 or the early 442 model, so I decided to buy those three this month. I just ordered a pair of 422s this morning--one first generation, the other second.

Very cool Lego set, and great praise of your fellow challengers! :tu:

Day 30

Shortly after making this post, I will request the badge for this challenge and prepare for the next one. Though the Slim Ranger isn't a knife that I reach for regularly (unless it's cold outside and I'm wearing gloves), it is a mighty fine knife. It carries nicely, is good and sturdy, and the blade has held an edge very well. That last despite cutting a few demanding things before the challenge.

As awlways, using the Slim Ranger was only part of the fun of this challenge. My fellow challengers made it truly great. I may not have commented much, but rest assured I have enjoyed every single photo. Y'awl did a fabulous job and have well and truly earned your badges!

And I think Bluegrass is a Slim Ranger fan.
