Day 02:

A great pattern....I'm not sure of the name. 1/2 Trapper? Tiny Toothpick? Would-be Muskrat?

I do believe that's called a Slimline Trapper.   :salute:

Day 2

Thanks for the welcome folks!  Again this year, some really nice knives!

Same background but the AG Russell Grandad knife (I think that's the name) is stepping up. Feeling my oats today and broke out the harmonica....heck I might get on the drums later. :D

Nice Harmonica!  :hatsoff:

@David - is that Bareheaded trapper the new exclusive to DTL?

Thoughts, I have been eyeing, but not a big green fan, saw somewhere else was offering S35VN steel on Stockmans (Case)

Yes LC it is. It had one big problem. The point of the knife was out of the frame. Looked at the kick and it was like a mountain peak. Filed the kick down and the point is back in the frame as it should be. Overall I'm quite pleased with this knife.

Not really much of a name for pattern, is it?

Sounds more like a model name. Is there a more suitable pattern name?

From AAPK Case knife patterns:

Pattern # 048
Case Slimline Trapper KnifeThis pattern is a 4 1/8″ serpentine style jack knife that is usually called a bare-head trapper, slim-line trapper, or farmer’s knife. There is a one bladed version, and a two bladed version. The one blade version usually has a long clip blade, and the two blade version normally has a clip master blade and almost always a spey secondary blade. Some were produced with a pen secondary. Neither version usually has a left side bolster. Case has been manufacturing them since sometime prior to 1940.

That seems pretty definitive!

I was about to propose "One Armed Trapper" or "Half Rat", but I guess I'll hold my tongue......

Starting off this year with a Case jigged red bone medium Stockman.
Looks an awful lot like one I used to own.

This is gonna be a hard challenge to keep up with. Mighty fine work by awl! :tu:

Day 2

Today I broke out this Kutmaster hawkbill. This thing has snap that'll dang near break your fingers, and a much-appreciated half stop. I used it for its intended purpose: pruning excessive growth off pesky trees.

Day 3 -

So many traditional knives in the world, all may have story to tell.

Dean inspired that inspiration in me along with other like minded members.

Here is a Buck 309, I found and rescued from a flea market table.  Included box and all paperwork. I wonder what it’s story was before me.
It is a small knife, with a keen blade. And Yellow scales, to just be different.

My flight yesterday was canceled after 10 hours at airport.   Trying again today. It is tough traveling by air and not having a sharp tool in either pocket!   (Carry-on only this trip)
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 03

Little RR Peanut for me today.  I've said before that, while I like slim knives, I don't like short ones.  Well, the Peanut might be an exception.  Perfect "forget about it, until you need it" knife.
