While the Wharncliffe did the job, I wasn't thrilled by the way the knife and I worked together. The fine tip was brilliant at getting into joints, but I felt the flat edge made it a bit difficult to make trimming cuts on the cutting board. Before slipping it into my pocket today, I did touch the edge up on a fine stone, followed by a stropping. Despite that, the edge didn't feel razor sharp. The edge was 'tacky' to the touch, but it felt a bit sluggish in action. It may be the case that I'm still experiencing the factory edge and that will improve with time and sharpening. (I'll probably give it a little love tomorrow.) It might also be that I was just a bit off my game today....  :dunno:







The factory edge on mine was super rough, I smoothed out the grind lines with a diamond stone and then sharpenned it up on the Turnbox. It's now hair popping sharp   :tu:

Day 11

Since I'm just piddling around the Apt today got a couple smaller knives today. GEC 14 TC Barlow and a Jack Knife Ben Jr Cattle Knife. The Jr Cattle Knife would of had a Handy Dandy Jr etch on the master blade when new. Jack Knife Ben sold his knives at the Union Stock Yard in Chicago. This knife was made by Schrade for Ben. Master blade tang stamp is  Jack Knife Shop Chiacgo. Spey blade tang stamp is Union Stock Yard.

Switching today to the Handyman Club of America Canoe.  It's a nice user knife at a very low price.  These are still selling for under $12.00 on E-bay including shipping!  They are made in China and are the same quality as the RR or Frosts or Marbles knives.  Quite a bargain if you ask me.

Since I'm just piddling around the Apt today got a couple smaller knives today. GEC 14 TC Barlow and a Jack Knife Ben Jr Cattle Knife. The Jr Cattle Knife would of had a Handy Dandy Jr etch on the master blade when new. Jack Knife Ben sold his knives at the Union Stock Yard in Chicago. This knife was made by Schrade for Ben. I was inspired by Adam and McStitchy to show this knife (in fact, it was once in the former's possession). It's a 2014 Case Sod Buster Jr, pattern 6137. The Sod Buster Jr is one of my favorite Case patterns, so much so that you'll be seeing another tomorrow.
