The Camillus made ones have flat ground blades and Buck have hollow ground blades, they also moved the sheepsfoot to the other end of the knife.

Thanks Steve   :hatsoff:
Is there any indicator to tell if it's a Camillus made one?
I have this listing found else where that list models   [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

I hope it is readable😜

Here's an interesting bit of history from Buck about the contracted knives.

Nice bit of history.  :tu:  I hadn't read that before; thanks.   :tu:

I knew I'd be using the awl, so I slipped the Moore Maker into my pocket this morning.

Day 15

After lugging around my RR Hedgehog, carrying the Case Mini Copperhead is a pleasure.  It's dinky compared to the RR, but it has completely fulfilled my knife needs so far   :tu:

That's why I tend towards smaller knives as well.  They do at least 95% of what a larger knives do (day-to-day anyway) but are much easier on the pocket. :)

Great Eastern Cutlery Bull Nose - Red Micarta
Day 15

Opening up an inexpensive band for an inexpensive watch to wear to work. I found this field watch in a box of random stuff about a month ago at the flea market. It wasn't working, but the crystal was flawless and I liked the look of it. The seller said he wanted a dollar for it and I took a chance. Put a battery in it and sho-nuff,, it worked. Set the time and a month later it is still matching what time my phone says.  It will make a good beater watch for work.

Just noticed I never bothered to reset the date after June ( only 30 days ),,,

:like:  That is a nice watch for a $1 :hatsoff:

Day 15 -

Finally grappled the mail, all holds were deleted today.   It is Friday?   Felt like Saturday to me :dunno:

My DLT Case Carbon Bareheaded Trapper was freed from the shipping carton by the Buck 250.

First impressions, the Scales are actually nicer than the pictures showed.  For Green I can use this.  The blade required some work with the steel before it could cut paper without tearing, the edge was very rough.  Luv the Wharncliff  blade.  The brass liners do dress this knife up.

Oh, there is a Tiny Trapper too?  :ahhh
There sure is. If memory serves me correctly, it's about 2.625 inches (~67mm) and the pattern number is 154.

Again, too much good stuff on display here! :tu:

Day 15

This Camillus 717Y is definitely not a tiny Trapper. I bought a pair of them when I was on a Trapper kick...only to later find out about that stoopid blade length limit. The carrier has been sold on, but the safe queen remains just in case I decide to hunt down a complete set of Yello-Jakets. You're seeing a photo from the archives.

A little TLC for this Michael May Wharncliffe - not that it really needs it.

I’m really enjoying the chance this Challenge offers to use knives that just don’t get enough pocket time normally.

Very nice Jud. :tu:  I like a Turnbox as well.  Very effective for a bit of edge maintenance.   :)

Day 16

Not all my Sheffield knives are vintage, some I bought brand new.  :D  A. Wright Spearpoint with buffalo covers.  Very nice knife but the edge geometry was pretty poor from the factory; very thick and basically couldn't be made decently sharp.  It took more than a Turnbox to change the entire edge angle, that's for sure.  :D

Very nice. If you haven’t already and you fancy something even more special than A Wrights premier range , check out Ashley Harrison’s work on Instagram. He and his dad run the cutlery now and he does some fantastic custom work - which he occasionally sells if you’re quick enough. I have 3 of his and on his list for a fourth. Definitely worth a look.
