Leatherman and Home Depot

I noticed that the Home Depot has done away with leatherman tools from their stores and website. Does anyone happen to know what was the cause of this?

Several months ago, someone here reported that Home Depot had all Leatherman tools on clearance at around 50% off. That same day, I checked 3 Home Depots in my area, and they were already cleared out. I asked an employee working in the tool area about it, but he had no idea (of course).

That was the same experience that I had. They just decided one day not to sell Leatherman any more, and that's all there is to it.

It was before the price increase at the first of the year. HD May have known that was coming and decided to not sell them at the higher price perhaps

Before the price hike, ours were liquidating all Waves (and for that matter, the MP600s), then and until 3 months ago they only sold Revs when they were off the racks, including price label and web; no one at three stores visited was able to give a reason. As multitools go, they're selling the Suspension NXT, what are they selling in yours?

I believe most of the ones I have been in have had NXT and MP600 maybe

Whatever the reason, it was driven by margins - which is not a bad thing. Leatherman has been raising their prices far in excess of inflation for several years, and maybe that was behind it. We'll prolly never know.

The only tools in store now at my local one is the gerber suspension nxt and the mp600.

Those decisions are made at company HQ in Atlanta. A store manager might know why, but the info doesn't trickle down. Most likely is that Leatherman wouldn't give HD the price they wanted.

I just went to my Home Depot and they no longer have anything in the way of knives or multi tools of any brand.

My local HD has a total of 2 multitools,
Gerber MP600 and the Gerber Suspension NXT.

Someone wish to talk about price jumps? Last year I picked up a Suspension NXT, at HD for $20.00 and some change. Now they're going for $39.00. Now I like the tool but wouldn't pay double for it.
