The Small But Mighty Bantam Owners' Club
on: June 27, 2022, 09:09:02 AM
Neither a look through the clubs list nor a search revealed a Bantam owners' club. It is possible that one exists and the search didn't show it for whatever reason. But if not, then I hereby start the Small But Mighty Bantam Owners' Club! The Bantam is a small but mighty SAK that punches far above its own weight. Wenger Premiers would be just as welcome here. So let's see those Bantams!

Here is one of seven (or eight) that I own: a green Swiss Knife Shop exclusive that'll be seeing a lot of carry time.

Promotional knife from a coating company. Blade, combo tool, back spring and inlay are gold plated.

Both are great Bantams. The green alox  is beautiful and the gold plated… straight from some old James Bond movie!

I am attaching mine - just plain silver alox, but I really appreciate its slimness and usefulness. I just miss the keyring to attach a small lanyard so I sewed a little leather pouch for it. With that I find it much easier to locate it / retrieve it from the pocket and I am less afraid to accidentally lose it. I usually pair it with Rambler on my keys and feel prepared for anything with this combo.

As well attaching comparison photo with a celidor version which belongs to Mrs. Z1913.

Thank you, Echotech, and you have quite the nice collection yourself! I like the Wenger, and is that a Singapore military Bantam at the bottom?

Of all my knifes, the cellidor Bantam is the only one I take with me wherever I go (given I remember to lock the door) :ahhh

A truly brilliant little tool. I am a big fan of the combined bottle and can opener, or prying tool that I use it the most for. The large blade is perfect for any opening task it is given throughout the day, and you never know when you need some tweezers or a toothpick :tu:

Alox Bantam rides in my wallet.  I always have a bottle opener, can opener, and backup blade, regardless of what else I’m carrying…

Great knife, and pretty wild to think a dedicated thread didn't already exist

The main thing keeping my alox Bantam out of my pocket on a regular basis is the Cadet, that really adds quite a bit of functionality without adding a whole lot more bulk and weight.

My main POU for the Bantam is light and fast day hikes.

This is a pretty terrible picture to use as an example, but it was the only one I found in my archive. The setup I currently use is a Hitch & Timber leather card wallet / EDC organizer with 1-2 cards, a suitable bill of cash, a Maratac AAA light in aluminum and the alox Bantam. Very light and self-contained EDC kit that helps me hold these small items securely in one place so I don't lose them.

Making a new wallet in a similar design, but in a synthetic  material is on my to-do-list. I have yet to even decide on a fabric, not to speak of learning to sew... so it's not likely to be completed anytime soon
