Bren did you happen to spot a Vic Sportsratchet , I would love to grab one of those odd balls  :D :D.

I used to have one , they are a very interesting tool .

Dunc

Dunc do you regret trading it away . When I did a search of Sportsratchets on the forum , I think you let yours go for a fairly cheap trade .

I traded it with Def for a SOG if I remember right   Yeh I guess I'm kind of cheap  :(  I don't regret it though and although I did like it I'm in no hurry to get another . Its not like its a BO Swisstool is it  ;)

UPDATE!!!

I went back and he was open today.

The following is what I bought:

-First Mate: http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=First+Mate+Victorinox  It came in a red box.  Knife liners are BRASS and has a key ring.

-Grand Prix w/hook that replaces the smaller flat screwdriver on the bottom, phillips replaces corkscrew, no can key on the Phillips, and key ring.  So, this is post 1991 one or something.  It came in a red box.  (no pic at Swiss Wiki)

-Trooper (OD Green hangled one): http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Trooper
No box, but in a plastic, black sleeve with red liner

The following I condsider "rare" is what he has and status.  NOTE: NFS = Not For Sale

1346 won = $1 US

Midshipman: none in stock.  I told someone earlier he had a Midshipman, I was incorrect.  It was the First mate, the one in the link above.
First Mate: 30 or so in stock, $29.00
Grand Prix: 28 or so in stock, $33.00
Trooper:  11 or so in stock, $22.00
Pioneer, red (high demand by you guys): NFS "So sorry, collection only.  Discontinued"
Soldier, rivet hole (high demand by you guys): NFS "So sorry, collection only.  Discontinued"
Swiss Champ, XAVT: $408
Swiss Champ, XLT: $178
Deluxe SOS Kit w/Swiss Champ: $104
SOS Kit w/Swiss Champ: $89
Red Skipper: $40
Time Keeper: $40
Super Timer: $63
Solo, Red, Safari Series: $12
Mauser (high demand by you guys): NFS "So sorry, collection only.  Discontinued"
Swiss Tool Spirit, model 3.0224 (regular blade in lieu of sheeps foot serated): in stock!!!  $89 (I looked at it and held it)
1897-1997 Swiss Champ: 10 or so in stock, comes in metal tin: $63
1897-1997 Spartan: 12 or so in stock, comes in metal tin: $36
Fireman, Green handles: NFS "So sorry, collection only.  Discontinued"
Fireman, Stag handles: NFS "So sorry, collection only.  Discontinued"
Outrider, green handles: $37
Traveler, handle engraved "With Compliments From (Korean import/export company)" logo, no toothpick or tweezers handles: $22
Caddy: (looks like a Classic): http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Caddy  $10
1884-1984 Classic: NFS "So sorry, collection only.  Discontinued"

I think the above sums it up.  He had the Silver Tech series, old and new, new GAK, Swiss Champs, compasses, kitchen and utility cutlery, hats, watches, etc.

I made pictures.  When I get home tonight, I will take pictures and scan them for you guys.  I will also scan some of the brocures, esp. the Korean brochure.

He had other stuff, but I think most of it would get the "So sorry, collection only.  Not for sale".  He had SEVERAL of the Red Pioneers but would not sell any of them.

The Grand Prix, he had like 2 or 3 boxes of about 8 each knives in each box.  I know that one is rare in the USA.

The First Mate is the ONLY red hangled Pioneer-series he would sell to me.

I would have stayed longer, but the wife and kid were there: "Honey, please hurry up!!!"

I plan on going back in about 10 days when my mom arrives from the USA.

Again, when I get home, I will post pics later tonight!!!!  I have LOTS of pics, BTW! :climber:

WOW! You certainly made off with a nice haul. I am drooling over some of the display knives though. It appears to be a complete set of the 58mm Deluxe in one case(photo is "display1"). Also I see a couple of sets that are considered rare. The box sets in white boxes with either classics with designs or Ambassadors with design(photo is "inside2"). I also see what looks like maybe a Flag Classic for Korea or Japan in one photo(photo is "inside1"). Those are hard to get too. Also in photo "display1" and "display4" there are some very nice pearl handled knives. 1 looks like it has a long nail file.
 :gimme:

Man give me a credit card and I might walk away with several boxes!   :ahhh

Looks like an Ambassador to me. The bottom one is the one I like. It has the bottom mounted long nail file and it looks to be a 74mm knife.

If I got the math right, it's a 84mm SAK. With those tools and at that size, the Tourist is the only one that comes to my mind. I can't find any info on a MoP one though... ...unless you mean the "middle of the MoP SAKs"...

OK, I might not understand which knife you are talking about. Check here to see an Ambassador;
http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Ambassador+74mm

The lettering I put on the photo are on top of the knives I am describing except for that Victorinox 58mm Watch Advert knife where it is directly above it.

The largest MOP knife at the top appears to be a Standard model(Spartan with no T&T).

Folks:

I am going to work with Felinevet to see about getting some of these (as he calls them) "beauties" into the hands of ya'll.

I have received NUMEROUS PM's and e-mails wanting this and that.

I need to make this known:

1. Yes, I am US Military in Korea.  I have certain restrictions on what I can and cannot do in so far as sending out souvenirs and other items purchased in Korea due to agreements between Korea and the USA.  In other words, I do not want to practice business without a license and second, I do not want Customs to start catching wind, etc.  I have to look into that.

2. Let me work with this dude over here.  The prices is what are good as of this past Monday.  The won and the dollar change exchange rates change all the time.

3. I do NOT want to go PayPal.  PayPal is anti-Second Amendment (for you folks that are non-US, the 2nd Amendment gives Americans the right to keep and bear arms.  Our current administration has made it WELL KNOWN via actions in the past, and current statements that they would like to gut it.  As a gun owner, you think my SAK collection is large, you ain't seen nothing yet, I do not like that).  On gun boards I lurk at, I have heard too many complaints about PayPal doing rotten things to folks in the pro-2nd Amendment corner.

SO, we will have to figure something out!!

4. Korea is SWARMING with SAK's, all Victorinox.  Flea markets, pawn shops, venders on the street, etc. I have seen LOTS of them, and RARE ones (esp. for USA folks).  I will NOT, however, buy SAK's at the Post or Base Exchange (PX/BX) as that is against the law for me.  I cannot sell an item I get at the PX and then resell it, or give that impression.

5. Give me some time to figure out what I can and cannot do, I will see about making some folks VERY HAPPY!!!  The good thing for USA collectors is that I have US Mail here, AND, all the SAK's I have seen for sale come in European/Worldwide packaging.  No SAK Brands packaging.  The catalog/model numbers also are Swiss/International, and not USA catalog/model numbers.  So, keep that in mind!!

Lets have some fun, shall we?!?!?!!?  Send me your wants, I will see what I can find.  I feel that this dude is sitting on a gold mine, so lets mine it!!!

I don't think anyone here wants to get you in trouble, so by all means, do what you can, and we appreciate even the thought of doing something for us here.  Felinevet is probably the best route to go for passing these things on to local members, and I think we can all appreciate that as well.

I know for me, the only thing I would really like is the 1st Mate. Other than that everything else has been called "only for collection" right.  :D

Here is another couple items that caught my attention while looking at these photos. In this photo there are a couple of boxed collection sets. I have identified 2 of them I think but the middle one eludes me. Have a gander at it here;

There is a Knifeforums thread with more about the Victorinox Fan Collection here;
http://www.knifeforums.com/forums/showtopic.php?tid/843613/

The Victorinox Flag Collection box set of the 5 countries that surround Switzerland info comes from Dan Jacquart's book "A Collector's Guide to Victorinox 58mm sized Swiss Army Knives". Do you know the 5 countries?

 :D

Germany, France, Austria, Liechtenstein, Italy. What did I win ;)

I agree with Def, this could turn into a nightmare to organise.  FelineVet already has an established infrastructure to deal with the distribution.  I'd certainly be happy to pay a few more dollars and the kitties get their cut  :tu:

I only have my 2 thumbs to give you so here they are!  :tu:  :tu:

Victorinox released several 58mm and 74mm sized boxed sets or "Collections" with different names. I have always wondered why they released a Flag collection that did not include their own flag knife. Strange indeed!

Sure appreciate bren10man sharing his photos of his visits to this South Korean Victorinox shop.  :salute:
