Curious as to who can claim the largest collection. I just became interested in them at age 80.

I always think there are collectors out there who are so busy collecting and categorizing they have no time to be online.
It's difficult to really know who claims the largest.
Which Swiss Army Knives have caught your eye at this point? I say at this point because our favorites or the size/style changes over time.
Which one was the one that started it for you? See, now you have me curious.
Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

I also think "largest" isn't always a great attribute. There's plenty of folks around here who have incredible collections with lots of rare and unusual pieces. I find those to be much more interesting versus "quantity".

Hi Miles, as FB and Ike say, that’s a tough one to answer but if you start looking through the threads you’ll find some excellent collections
Here’s a few to get you started, but anything with collectors club or collection badge request should yield good results…..and that’s just for SAKs, wait until you start on the Leatherman and knives forums
And if you’ve not discovered it, the SAKWIKI (link at top of the page) will keep you reading for hours

Hello and welcome to MTO, @Miles42!
As others have said, I find the collecting interests and directions of others more interesting than the sheer size of the collection itself. But I appreciate your question, and I know there have been a couple surveys on collection size taken in the past on the forum. I haven't seen one lately, so maybe it's time to start a new one.
I also know that there are a few folks who are very active participants on the forum yet only own and operate one SAK. Good for them, I say.
Then there are collectors who focus on model variety and those who focus on variation within a particular model. It never ceases to amaze me what catches the eye and imagination of different collectors.
As @FolderBeholder mentioned, I'm sure others would love to hear about what catches your eye.

Good points everyone
However I would say the second responder to your thread has one of the largest collections
But there are crazy Swiss and Chinese collectors who have massive collections and as mentioned I am sure there are many people who collect, but are not online.
Also as mehtioned I think themes are always good for a collection and you'll find many here eg
All the 91mm Officers Models; Soldiers (all years); Aloxes; 58mm; Wenger Rangers; Specific models etc etc
For me the theme was tool variations - Plus a few Climbers - But I only have a couple of hundtred there are folk here with many hundreds even thousands !!
PS Welcome to MTo - Good to have you on board -
SAKs are the best!!!
