Here's what I picked.  A SOG Powerpint, two safety razors, a lanyard and a watchband.  Thanks to those who have contributed to the box over the last several years.  There's still a lot left in the box which I hope to send to lazar tomorrow afternoon.  So, if anyone is curious about what's in the box add your name to the list via copy and paste to get it after lazar.

The PowerPint still in its package alone is worth the price of admission, if you ask me. :tu: C'mon, y'awl...you know you want to get in on the fun!

Excellent picks and I agree on the Powerpint!   :tu:

I've been using a safety razor for 11 years now and I haven't looked back.  Most comfortable shave I've been able to give myself.

I've also been using safety razors for many years. Having several to rotate through means my blades last longer.  Also, I'm cheap, so it's nice when you can buy 100 blades for $10.00 instead of one of those modern multi-bladed cartridges with the lubricant strips that are closer to being $10.00 each. :ahhh :ahhh  I also use a puck of soap in a mug with a brush instead of canned shaving cream.

The Sos Surprise Box is at the post office and should reach Brother lazar on Saturday.  The postal clerk had to put big, pink warning stickers on all sides so that any carriers down the line will know that the box is unexpectedly heavy!  ::) :salute:

I too use the puck and the brush in a mug.  I hadn't thought about rotating them though.  I have my grandpa's old safety razor.  I'm going give it a gander to see if I can clean it up and put it to use again.

I used a safety razor for a while, and I came to enjoy the routine and ritual behind it. The one brushless shaving cream I tried was underwhelming, so I stuck with soap. I hope to return to the old-school wet shave someday. For now, the quick process of an electric wins out.

I keep a beard and only shave my neck. I did the wet shave thing on my neck for a decade, but never could dial out irritation. and regular electric razors always left me feeling like my neck got gnawed on by a rodent.

Last year I picked up a Philips one blade and it is a miracle. It’s not as close of a shave, but that’s why it works for me. No more irritation, and I can even do it dry. If it takes me a full minute to shave I’d be surprised.

I awlways say that switching from the canned foam to a puck is the biggest thing you can do to improve your shave. I've used a straight razor, safety, cartridge, disposable, just about all the options. I think I can get a better shave with a garbage disposable and good soap than a nice razor with bad soap.

I've awlso been experimenting w/ shaving using cool water instead of hot. Some people say it helps keep the skin taunt. I'm not sure yet.

And, in a weird coincidence, I'm pretty sure awl the items you pulled were ones I put in the box over the years.

The SOG was a bonus w/ an order from one of the big knife sites. The razors were part of an ebay lot. I currently shave w/ a Camp King Gillette from the same set. The band was a last minute swap. I ordered it on Amazon to replace the resin band that was cracking on my watch. That one didn't quite fit, and when I was repacking the box I found a different one. Tried it and it fit, so I just tucked that one in instead of doing a return. The lanyard was probably just on an SAK that I ebayed at some point. One of the sellers I frequent puts them on a lot of their knives.

Glad you got some good loot, and excited to see the next stop!

Glad the box arrived intact. I remember when priority boxes were delivered in 3 days but now 5 days or longer seems to be the norm.  It doesn't really weigh 35 pounds.  I think it was 16 pounds and 10.4 ounces, but the clerk said it was heavy enough to warrant the warning stickers.  I hope lazar finds some goodies to his liking and I can't wait to see what he picks.

I've had Amazon packages weighing 20 pounds that were plastered with "HEAVY" stickers, so I guess heaviness is subjective. I also look forward to seeing what lazar pulls out of the box!

I've made my final selections!  A Kershaw fork spoon thingy, a Boker USB OTF, a Classic SD, and a Esquire.  Thanks to all who have donated!  I could barely get the box repacked, its stuffed to the max, but its ready for the next person!

I like your selections.  I never even saw that Boker or I'd have kept it myself.  I'm surprised that's all you wanted. I believe a person can't have too many SAKs, especially the 58mms. You might want to take another look before the box goes on to someone else. You'd be helping everyone if you took more out of the box so it would be easier to repack.  :pok: There was so much in it that it took me multiple attempts before I got everything packed.  I kept thinking :woohoo:  I finally got everything in, then I'd move the box and find another bag or two was sitting behind it.

Same, it was like level 99 Tetris trying to re-pack the box

There's no way I'm taking everything out of the box and re-packing it, lol.

I already took apart the Boker, drilled two holes on one side, and riveted a Stainless Steel pocket clip to it.

I'm just going to think out loud now.  Hmmm.  What is in the back of IMR's muddled mind?  Suppose someone took out some of the things that it doesn't look like anyone wants.  Gas station, no name brand, busted, throw-away advertising stuff.  Maybe about a dozen items or so.  Maybe more.
That would leave more room for someone to put something more desirable in the box, wouldn't it?  Plus it would ease this chronic box packing dilemma.  The gas station cheapies wouldn't have to go to waste.  Good stuff to hand out to a responsible neighborhood kid, or donation to Goodwill.  Goodwill or some other thrift store would be glad to get them as most use the money for some charitable use.  I know in my town there is a good charity shop that makes money for the animal shelter feed.  Another makes money for people in need.  Food.  Electric bills.
Of course, whoever took the dross out would have to post a photo of them, but I don't think anyone would mind it if some of the cheap stuff was out of the mix.  Last time I got the box it was bulging.  I packed, and repacked, until it finally closed but it was a close thing.
I don't think anyone here would say, "Look, Boogie412 took two dozen knives out of the box."  I think most everyone would approve.  What do you think?
Best wishes.  G

We've had good luck w/ people opening up the box to friends and family, and I think that's a good way to help get more stuff out. I don't love the idea of just dumping a bunch of it to a goodwill or whatever. Maybe taking some of it to a local scout troop or something?

Boy Scouts sounds good.  Thing about letting friends take things is they take something good.  If they have any sense.  The box has quite a bit of stuff that evidently nobody wants.  It keeps getting shipped back and forth.
Someone in the family or a neighborhood kid has gotten things out of the box a number of times.  Hopefully something pretty good.  That diminishes the better stuff and leaves the dregs.  What is needed isn't more people taking good stuff, but doing something with the filler.  I think most of us could agree on what constitutes the undesirable items.
Just thinking and asking opinions.  I don't have any desire to get the box again.  At all.  So, I have no stake in the game.  Any more comments?
Best wishes.

If everyone is in agreement, I can take the cheapy, non desirables out and find them somewhere to live.  I did add some stuff, but ended up not adding as much as I could, since the box is already overflowing.  If we took out some of the cheapy stuff that I've seen over and over in the box, it would free up some space for new, possibly better items.

I could take some stuff out, take a pic, and if everyone is in agreement, I'll find new homes for them.

Another thought, I could take those non desirables to a pawn shop and then take the proceeds and donate it to MTO, probably wouldn't be a whole lot of $ though, idk.

Sounds like a great idea to me.  However..... like I said, I'm not a player in this game anymore.  So my opinion doesn't count for much.  It would solve two problems.  Thin out the undesirables.  I'm sure that lazar knows what they are.  Plus he's willing to post photos and let the inmates agree on it.  It would  also solve the second problem.  Free up some space and allow more quality items to be added.  That is to everyone's benefit.
Last time I had the box, I saw stuff that I had seen several times before.  Maybe since the first time I had it.  Been to lots of places with no takers.  It says something when nobody will take it for free.
Nothing wrong with tossing something in the box that you don't want anymore.  Cheap or not.  Maybe someone will take a shine to it.  I'm surprised at some of the things people keep actually.  Not my business.  I did see where our friend lazar took out a few things that would all fit in the palm of his hand.  Also, none of my business, but it doesn't reduce the packing problem any.  And, he had to pack all the undesirables (his words) back in.  Which kept him from adding as much as he would have liked.  Probably all nice items someone would have clicked their heels and shouted 'woo hoo' over.
I appreciate hearing the suggestions so far.  Feel free to share your thoughts.
Best wishes.  G
