Where is the non-US one at the moment?  I wanna play.

On it's way to Flash! Sorry, I was a bit slow with it.
I used to come here a lot.

Not to worry mate, I'm just being impatient.  :D  Nick, take your time with it and make sure you have a good play first.

Whoever is supposed to send it to Tarrodemierda, nix him for now. He told me hes unsure when he will or wont be home, so just skip over him.

Yes mate - that'll be it. Sorry about the signed-for - thought it best to be cautious as there's only two of them in the galaxy!

I used to come here a lot.

:ahhh  Noooooooo.....     Take your time, it's fine. Really, I don't need to see it.  What's 11 weeks between friends eh?  It's not like I'm holding my breath and very likely to die in the next minute or two is it?  Seriously, enjoy the thing.  Bring it to the meet and we'll all have a laugh shall we?  ::) ;)

Oooooooookay. Two apologies to start with:

1 for taking so long to post my thoughts on the Crony;

2 for probably not being worth the wait  :P

I really don't have much to add to what has been said already. So with no originality whatsoever, here are my observations.

1) It needs a lanyard hole. I received my Atwood prybaby and also a Latshaw Pocketwrench II, whilst I had the Crony and that simple function (to be able to add a lanyard) is key. It is the reason I EDC the Atwood, not the Latshaw. It would almost certainly stop me EDC'ing the Crony too.

2) Ruler. I need Metric AND Imperial. It would be less of an issue in other European countries perhaps, but here in the UK, we still use both, whatever the politicians mights say!

3) The "Claw" In this picture, next to an Atwood, you can see that the V in the nail removing claw setup is a bit shorter and a bit more acute. The dimensions of the Atwood claw does actually perform better (tested).

4) Mag Glass Hmmmm. I really like the idea of a mag glass, I'm actually in the market for one at the moment, but I have two reservations about building one into the Crony. a) I'm sure that space could be used better and b) I don't think it'll be big enough to be terribly useful. On the other hand, it is a marketing feature, albeit a bit token. The presence of a magnifying glass wouldn't deter me from buying one though, it's not a deal breaker for me.

I assume that the finish on the production tool will be polished? If so, I liked it, and can't wait for the finished article.

Well done guys - it's a good thing :tu:

I used to come here a lot.

Hi Dough,

OK, what happens next?  Regardless of my comments, I want to support this (and forthcoming projects).  What, when and how much?????

Cheers - Joe

We are working very hard to incorporate all of your ideas into our final production.  I know this is taking a long time, but we really want to try and do this right!  I very much appreciate everyones comments, and it will help us ensure the final part is the best it can be!!!  I'll be posting a new thread as soon as the passarounds are complete to show the final revised edition of the tool, and see how many people are interested in purchase.  I may start another thread before the final thread to bring about some questions to see what the general feeling is about certain changes, etc, etc.  I am forever grateful to all of you for all of your support, and I am super excited about this project coming to fruition.

Thanks again!

Your humble servant,

Dough

Got my Crony and I must say its GREAT

Seriously, its fantastic to see a maker (thats you Dough  :pok:) putting so much time and effort into making this thing.  And also, for going to this trouble to get out thoughts on it (could also be cheap marketing  ;) :D)

I would encourage the addition of a magnifier, as when I carry my Leatherman I miss the Magnifier from my Swiss champ.

Have you also thought on some type of sheath (kydex might be the easiest).

Other than that I think this is great....all it needs now is a MT.org stamp on it.

(I am also thinking of the next generation where you can add a cutting edge, rescue hook etc etc  :salute:)

Bloody well done old bean

Glad to hear it flash!! I'm really pumped about this project, even though it seems like its dragging out we are doing alot of work on it!  The bottleneck right now is trying to find a heat treatment plant that will do a good job for a low price to keep our overhead down and the final part price down.  I see a common theme is many people are excited about the magnigier, and as luck would have it, thats the hardest part of the design!  We are still a bit unsure as to how we are going to secure it, but I promise I'll do my best to fit it in.  I don't know much about kydex, but that would be cool cause it would protect the tool/magnifier, stop the edges from digging into your leg, and provide a quick release from the keychain.  Is there any kydex pro that could lend me some help on this topic? Thanks

-Dough
