Quattro SD as a scale tool
on: November 08, 2022, 09:36:03 PM
I got inspired by a Reddit post and added a Quattro screwdriver to the scales of my Compact and made it even more compacter  :D.
It holds in place by a friction of the tweezers.

Nice. How do you get to the nail nick on it, though?

Nice. How do you get to the nail nick on it, though?

I considered a cutout for the nail nick but I rather opted for the hidden solution so the scales remain as smooth as possible. Retrieval of the Quattro SD is still easy - when you pull out the tweezers slightly (0,5 cm), the SD moves out somewhat so you can grab it.

The screwdriver does not sit in the scales too tighly - I would say you need the same force to pull it out as the tweezers. So it is not as tight as e.g. in Swisscard nailcare, but it does not fall out neither - I carried it now for two days in the pocket and it sits tight in there. I tested it as well with a rigourous shaking and all seems OK.

Maybe next time I would make the opening a bit more shallow to have more friction (I was rather concern to have enough space for both the tweezers and the SD this first time), but it is still OK. I did it by trial, without precise measurement (you can see the angles of the opening are not exactly the same).

Overall it was quite easy - I just cut out the partitions and first tried to file down the opening with Swisschamp file but it turned  it is easiser just scrape it out - I used small blade of Tourist. Overall it took like 15 mins to  complete. And as Reamer Punch correctly stated - worst case it is just one scale to replace.

Would a magnet work to aid in retention?
