Great work and knives, everyone!

Day 27

Postie called this morning with a box which provided more work for the awlsome awl of the M61 red scaled Elsenener from 1963 - still my preferred tool for opening packages! Inside was the new model of “mascotte ufficiale” of the Giro d’Italia cycle race, a reworked wolf; in the group photo you see the first mascot of the race, the Ghiro d’Italia (a dormouse - curious choice for a cycling mascot, but it’s a weak Italian play on the hard and soft “g” pronunciation giving dormouse and tour), hence my avatar Rizio Il Ghiro, which first appeared in the late 1990s on RAI 3 Italian TV with Maurizio Fondriest (former Italian road race world champion as one of the commentators), the new wolf, and the original model of wolf which replaced the dormouse (there was a short-lived goat mascot between the 2, but I didn’t get one of those - the “simpatico stambeco”.  The mascot is designed to get children interested in cycle racing and is awarded to the leader of the race wearing the pink jersey at the finish of every stage. That’s probably more than most ever wanted to know about the topic, so apologies!

Anyway, they’ll be sat next to me as we watch today’s stage, a time trial, to cheer Geraint Thomas on to hopefully his final victory in the race!

I think Roglic may yet beat Thomas.  ;)   It´s a brutal climb today and it´s going to be exciting!

DAY 27  We've had a LOT of rain this week, so I was out checking on various parts of the garden and snapped this pic of the Huntsman.

DAY 26

was out at the cabin property with no reception yesterday, so this one is late I’m afraid. Carried the 70s Director yesterday and used the wee tiny blade to cut open some rations. Then used it again to open a bag of coast of Maine potting soil.

DAY27
Took care of my baby boy all day long, and only used baby safe tools... so now that he got to sleep, I could look at the bottom of the drawer seeking for one I did not already show during the challenge:

Victoria stamped mod. 1908, most probably civilian as there is no date on the blade, but there is some kind of mark that looks like the WK stamp ont the scale... So, I don't know

Day 27

Decided since I gave the "side" opening two shots, it was only fair to do the same with the top. Results:

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The lid is pretty badly mangled, and only about half open. While I'm sure technique has something to do with it, the other method has consistently been easier and cleaner.

Great stuff!  :salute:

DAY 27

Carrying the 70s Director again today. The pull on a cabinet door was coming loose- the directors orange peeler flat head screwdriver tip wasn’t perfect on the wide and shallow Phillips screw but it got the job done :tu:

The badge is getting closer guys but may not be ready quite at the end of the challenge

Jay (Explorer) has very kindly taken my design and made it badge worthy :salute: :hatsoff: thank you mate :tu:

It’s now been sent to Comis who will finish it off for us, making sure it’s the correct specs etc

As the crossbow was used by both Vic and Wenger it seemed the perfect choice plus it’s really cool IMO  8)

Hope you like it

Day 27

I used the flathead screwdriver on my Standard to help me open the string canister on my string trimmer while doing yard work today.

No action shot, because I ran out of hands, but here’s the SAK that saved the day!

Thanks for share.  That looks like something you could easily get cut on.

I find the not perfect but doing the job is a common, but definitely beats carrying an entire tool kit ot not having anything

Climber small blade cut open the packaging on a pair of water filters and the bottle opener popped off the end caps.

Model Elinox Farmer

Used the saw to cut a plank of wood in half.

It worked perfectly. Nevertheless, I find the saws of a modern SAK better, more efficient and more accurate. So point for the modern SAK.

Intermediate score: 17:11
