The Autotool is indeed an oddity unto itself.  There are variations in the Autotools as I recently found out in a discussion with the folks at Victorinox.  The earlier model was riveted together, while the later models had a removable pin that you could use to replace things like the ice scraper in case you broke it.  When you finally get it, let me know which version you have!

I wish- both mine are older versions.  It's kind of maddening as one of them has a broken ice scraper.  I figured it was "good enough" as it was and happily took it anyway, and was amazed some time later when in Maine, Bob spotted a replacement scraper at Freeport Knife Shop!  Of course I instantly grabbed it and considered myself lucky until I got home and realized that there was no way to change it!

That's almost as irritating as owning a great condition Sportsratchet that's missing the spanner that slides in the bottom  :(

Well.... after mentioning it to the folks at Victorinox, they decided to look into their inventory and see if they had any replacement scraper blades.  If I recall correctly, Victorinox had one in the US and two in Canada.

There may be some at dealer shops just about anywhere in the world, but I wouldn't count on finding one if I were you- Freeport Knives is pretty well connected to Victorinox (Doug Dillman, the owner, used to work at Victorinox in Ibach!) and he had one.... and probably that one was the only one he'd ever sold, and it was to me!  :D

Well, if you are going to carry around an almost useless tool, you might as well carry around a lighter, more compact useless tool!  :D

I was stunned that Freeport Knife Shop had replacement AutoTool window scrapers. They had lots and lots of other Victorinox spare parts. Might be worth asking them about the SportRatchet wrench:

I don't think it was ever available as a separate part, no harm in asking though :)

Never mind.  I'll keep my eye out for a beat up one and sort it out that way.

Funny you should say that Neil , the misses is a cruel thing I told her about my plan(what a FOOL) & she opened it up and told me of the contents . She then went out for a hour & fecking took it with her  :ahhh :ahhh. I am concerned that the ice scrapper might not be there(I MAY NEED IT  :P:D :D :D.
Good motivation to get into shape.

Dave we share the pants in our house  :D :D . Me not seeing/getting the tool is of my own doing . I bought it with the self imposed condition of having to loose 5KG, to get my weight too below 95KG, before I get the tool as a reward  . If I only see the tool's box it gives me added intensive to work the weight off  ::) :D. So the wife's cruelness is actually helpful (I think  :D )

As she was getting ready to hide it I heard a large clunk  "It fell out of the box"  :o ??? :D. I should have checked the floor boards for damage  ::) :D. I think she is enjoying it a bit too much & I have just got back from 2 days in Sydney seeing Top Gear Live , again "Beer is healthy isn't " ::) might delay my baseline weigh in  :D
