Microtec MSI
on: March 22, 2023, 07:14:46 PM
So, mine arrived today and after watching this yesterday:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShJo2GGWjG4&ab_channel=BirdShotIV

I thought the that tip is awefully close to the back of the handle... and promptly cut myself on the closed knife. :D

Still, love their version of the crossbar lock with the linear spring. Bit on the large side, but that bronze blade looks swell. Still with blood on it

Back after a visit to the ER. Surgery and blood transfusion... was touch and go, but I managed to pull through.

Here is an image of my battle-scar.

At least you'll have a good scar and tale to tell around the campfire.  :like:

(also a very handsome knife BTW)

I like myself a good blade to handle length, so if I have to draw blood to get there I'm fine with that :)
Nice knife, mate!

My mini Bugout is quite similar and combined with how many of us close our cross bar locking folders, by pushing the butt of the handle against the back of the palm, it very easily nicks you if you're unaware of that risk.

Being able to cut yourself on a closed knife = design defect IMO

Agreed. Though in this case I'm not worried. You usually don't rub/press your hand against the butt of the knife. That is quite different to the CRKT (in the video), because when you put your hand in the pocket, you run the risk of cutting yourself. Still, this being a fairly expensive knife it sure is a disappointment. I really wish (and expected) more attention to detail.

That said, I have considered returning it, but I like the knife too much, so I'm gonna keep it.

Not to mention you're blood brothers, now.

There used to be a tradition, that every blade gets named after the person who's blood she tastes first... needless to say, gets confusing because all my knives and swords are called "Etherealicer" :D
