My New EDC SAK: Vic Pioneer W/Fob by K. Cardwel
on: February 03, 2009, 08:20:59 AM
I am growing very fond on the Victorinox pioneer. I thought I was a farmer guy, but I think I actually like the pioneer more. I'm really excited with my new EDC knife. The custom fob was done for me by K. Cardwel. Ken does all of my fobs for me since I have no talent for making them.  :D

I added a titanium bead that I thought was really cool! Anyway, here is my new edc:

Anyone else edc a pioneer?

That's really nice mate.  The fob works well with the scales.  I have to say I don't EDC my Pioneer that much.  I've got a slightly older red one with the plain cross and I just don't like the idea of scratching it up.  The stupid thing is I only got that one because it was the cheapest one I could find one eBay at the time.

The other reason is it doesn't have any scissors, I'm slowly getting past my scissors obsession but I still want them there.   :-[

Now that I've finally got one, I can say real men carry Soldiers, and that lanyard rings are for prancing nancies.

They are really cool though,

sure, you get this suss "opener layer" - I love the cap lifter & can opener both, I truly do, but sometimes you wonder if you might like a second blade and the combo tool (is that doable?)

anyway, it is what it is, and what it is is excellent.

:pok: Time to start carrying a 74mm along with it.  What about an Ambassador, scissors, nail file, little backup blade.  Heck you've got the skills, just pull it apart and add some scissors  :tu:

Yes, just, not easily, I wouldn't :D

Nice fob GG, I like the little bead, certainly adds a touch of class.

The one I was thinking of doing was a Alox Alumnus like TCollings has over on SOSAK.  I have never been truly happy with my build on my Cellidor Alumnus and so was going to pull it apart anyway.

You know, for EDC I think I have to go for plain silver.  I wasn't sure I'd like it until I got my Cadet but it's really very attractive.  As I hinted at above I also think it takes pocket wear and tear better than the colours.

Silver is a lot more forgiving during the build as well.  Probably best for edc as you say, though I'm partial to a little well worn (lets be posh and call it distressed :) ) coloured alox.

If it wasn't for my saw blade obsession I'd carry a Pioneer everytime :)

That lanyard and ring do set it off a treat though :tu:
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

Very nice!

I am in the same boat as you. I love my red Farmer, but think now that I might actually prefer a Pioneer for EDC. Specifically, I'd like to get a nice red Pioneer with brass liners just like my Farmer...

I didn't even realize that Pioneers came in black until I saw yours though. From what I can tell, the only available colours are silver, red, and black? Shame they didn't do more...

I second that, and a blue pioneer while we're at it.

Beautiful knife there GG, nice cod fob and you guessed it  :D got a link for the Ti bead? Soldier was my longest edc sak, the poor thing saw a lot of use.
