Taking into account every aspect of a folding knife (blade, pivot, handle and lock) what would you guys say is the strongest production folder available?

I really like the axis lock very strong...SOG has their Arc lock as well...never used the Arc lock...would love to but the knives I want from SOG are assisted openers...shame banned in Aus.

I heard he was his biggest fan.  :D

BTW I am still yet to experience what I would regard as the toughest folder.  The Spyderco Police is the toughest I have handled by far, but it is far too weak in the tip.

Yeah the police is a stout ole beast, especially in VG10 :)

But like you say the tip would be a major weakness :-\

So if overall strength in every department is your objective, then I guess it's got to be a tanto pointed folder then :)

Tanto would have the edge though :)

It depends on how it is done.

For example, I would regard the Gerber Applegate folder to be far far stronger than the tanto on my Flash II.   Tanto's are tough, but if they go to a fine tip they are still prone to breakage.

True, but if executed properly (a-la CS) where the spine run's almost to the very tip of the blade, then you've the making of a very strong point :)

Ok to expand on this, my guess is that you'd need a steel or titanium handle too :)

That would be my guess as well.  Not that G10 or FRN is a "weak" material, but they have got to be the stronger.

No, FRN and Zytel are pretty strong alright (never had G10 ), but there's something very primal and reasuring about a metal handled folder :)

So Ti or SS would probably be the handle material IMO, but what about the lock?

Hmm, I'd say framelock as long as it was done properly like on the Sebbie, but then as CS/Spyderco have proved, there's plenty of life/strength left in the humble lockback :)

So Ti and a framelock.

Shall we just say it's a Sebbie and just be done with it?  :D

Ok say for the sake of arguement that the rest of the knife is perfect in terms of strength and lock up, the blade style or material isn't :-\
