The Opinel USA site was out of stock on many  of the woods and color as well as sizes.

My error, I did a search on the RIVER site and found 3 I liked. Two arrived, the 3rd next week.

I really like No 06 size😉. I now have 3🙄

Also, Walnut, picked a No 08 as well on Christmas Day when they were offering a FREE SHEATH! 
I know what a smuck  🙄😵‍💫

A influencer on YouTube, SecondHandGeorge iirc, modded a No09 with finger groves and a dangler sheath.
Think was a Carbon blade too! Now with patina on both sides of blade (round circles last I saw)

I found it, he did two vids. One is a short on a walk about, the other was 9 days ago, and is actual mod and sheath build. About 39 minutes.   Called Black BeTty.

I got a question for everyone, I try and be on the forum everyday, sometimes I come on and only check a sub-forum or so. I've run late on a challenge because of this more than once, don't know if I need to put a reminder in my phone or maybe tag people involved as a reminder. Then again, maybe it's just ADHD and the quadrupole reminder will do lol

I have the ADHD so I understand that David :rofl:  There's a Bell in the line of options at the top and bottom of each page.  If you click on it a prompt will come up asking if you want to be notified when a new post is posted.  I click yes so it reminds me in the email account I have linked with MTO.

Good option, use tapatalk for the most part and looks like it has a way to subscribe to threads

I also set a calendar  appointment for 8 AM for each day of the month.

I have experienced issues for threads I am subscribed do not alway email me new posts.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

I am sooo ready for this challenge.

This is the line up, the strange handle shape on one of the number 8's is down to me trying to add a brass lanyard tube, the drill went off center, and just had to reshape....it turned out okay.

Being brought up on a farm, I rotated three one no 7, and two no 8, those three opinels were my only cutting blades for 6 years, and did everything with them, now the original no 7 is my neck carry, teamed with a whistle and cut down firesteel....does 90% of what I need to do...and I have really pushed it.

I shaped mine 30 years ago, before the garden knife came out.....but thank you for the picture, completely missed that one, it looks better than mine.

In fact all my opinels (apart from the no 10) are greater than 25 years old, with the oldest no 7 and no8 over 40 years.



It has also had some use, the three no8 in the collection, the carbon blades have significantly worn down compared to the newer stainless steel version (the inox one is still over 30 years old, just not used as much)





The trusty no 7 gets the most pocket time, here it is with my backup, note the classic wear of the blade, giving that slight S curve (it's quite hard to picture correctly in this light...it's 7am here)....that really helps with feather sticks.



The users have done everything you could ask for in livestock farming, from veterinary services such as C sections in sheep, and skinning of dead lambs for adoption needs, through to de-icing tractor windows and lunch prep.

Now they are used for Bushcraft and the no 7 is perfect for carving.

Yep, my Opinel’s are awl new, did not even know of the brand until maybe 8 yrs ago, and  only bought my first because of talk for a 30 day challenge and then Barry starts wielding his N 12 in a trad challlenge and how his bride took his Walnut  N06 🥺
