Very nice job!

I never looked close enough at the project ones to know you had choice of wood!

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Opinel '24 Day 09
Another beautiful day at the Renaissance festival and I loaned my No 8 to my partner who needed to cut some cable ties securing a basket to a mobility scooter so he could take apart the tiller to access a faulty wire harness.

You do. And blade (sort of, they have one carbon and like half a dozen stainless). I'm tempted to do the carbon one next.

My son bought it and used it on a several day hike a while ago.
He said it was okay but heavy.  I've carried it here and there, but I usually pack a No. 8 Outdoor on my hikes.  It's lighter, does everything I need and doesn't take up the space the No. 12 does.  I agree with your post yesterday completely Nate.  It's not a bad knife, but it's a large knife for what it was designed for.
Hey Barry!  Other than loving the grip and wishing it had the tick puller, how do you like it?  Have you carried/used it much?

I have asked Opinel USA whether the fire steel and tick puller are fully interchangeable.  If they respond in the affirmative, you can PM me your address and I’ll send you the tick puller.  My only chance of using the knife is without the tick puller, and I’ve always got a Tick Key or two on me anyway.
Barry

Happy mummy day to all the mummys out there.

With the No8 in hand, magical breakfast cream, cut fruit and spiced imperial tea on the table. Cards and presents layed out, and nice music on.

Nice try, but I recognize a model without the locking ring when I see one.  I’m guessing it is really a No. 2.

Still a good-looking waffle, though.  I bet it was delicious.
OK, you got me. n°2 it is. :D It's a keychain knife, and not very useful at that. Still cuts like a laser if you really have to, though.
And yes, the waffles were good.

Nobody on MTO has ever been accused of being an enabler before. ::) :assimilate:
I was just coming here to post that this thread has been a bad (good?) influence... it should be here in a day or two, and I'm excited! I should have done this a couple of weeks ago and joined the challenge!

I had you pegged to order 1 CARBON & 1 STAINLESS each.
And then add a thin felt knife for preparing the trout your youngins hook!!!

PS: If you have Amazon Prime shipping is no charge and often here in a day or two at worst.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

I'm a big fan of patina so I was naturally drawn to the carbon. Opinels have never appealed to me until lately so i will try this one first then look into a filet knife.

I looked them up on Amazon but I have been kind of perturbed with Amazon lately with the length it takes aome.itwms to ship. So I decided to support Opinel ddirectly.

I am sure service varies by area!  I have a main distribution hub north of town and a delivery hub south with Amazon trucks making deliveries.

I have ordered at 8PM and the item was on my doorstep at 9AM next day.  Even some Opinels are here within 48 hrs. It is insane.   I take advantage for an impulse buy to avoid shipping fees of other options.

I can imagine in the wilds of GOD’s Country, waiting is good👍

No6 will ride neck sheath most likely😉

Onion sliced and diced, bread shredded, added broth, sage, melted butter, salt and pepper,!and stirred until and spices added to proper tasted.
Then trimmed fat from pork loin chops.
Cut foil to length, the tear strip is gone from carton.

The No8 did the job, but I do think I will prefer the No9 next kitchen chore.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

In oven at 350 covered and will check in 1-1/2 hours.   Scheduled 2!   Then uncover and leave in oven for at least 30 minutes more.

Serve with apple Sauce, likely have leftovers for a few more meals 😊
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

No. 8 on package duty.

I can see why the No. 8 was the original and still most popular, but it is a shade on the small side for my hands.

Day 10

Got my Walnut no. 8 and my BO ST300 CC with me today. All in all, a pretty quiet and rainy day in Puget Sound. I think we are going to make Nebraska Been Stew for dinner.
