Am I crazy if I purchase an orange ArmBar just to join this challenge? I've been thinking about getting one for a while and the color didn't really matter. It sure is a pretty badge..

The Armbar is very good nakken, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, really like mine and would carry it a lot more if I wasn’t always in challenges

The bottle opener is the best on any MT IMO, the scissors work well, the drivers are excellent, the awl useful enough but maybe a bit small and the blade’s good although I generally prefer something a little more pointy

Just bumped into my neighbour and stopped for a chat. He started telling me it’s his daughter’s 15th birthday coming up and she’d asked for a Gerber knife, I was impressed 8)

He knows I’m into MT’s so said you’ll probably know it but he couldn’t remember what it was called but remembered it was burnt orange…Armbar I say, that’s the one he says :like:

Yes, it is a pretty badge. :D Here it is so folks don't have to search.

If you are looking to buy a tool just for this challenge, then the Armbar makes sense. It's inexpensive, small and with nice features.

We've got less than two weeks until this starts. I can't wait! :ahhh

Thanks lads

There are several Leathermans I don't carry as much because I've grown used to outside accessible blades and interchangeable bits. And it is no secret that the LM bottle opener doesn't work very well with European bottles. So I just ordered the ArmBar slim drive. It seems to be the perfect addition/combo, meaning I'm in!

:like: great to have you on board

The slim looks good but you do lose the wide bottle opener for the, ahem,  slim version

Thank you :hatsoff:

That is true, as well as the awl and scissors. I will admit I had a hard time deciding which one to get, or even if I should have waited for the ArmBar Trade to get here. But for my intended use, the slim design and limited toolset seems perfect. It was also on sale :ahhh

How much orange is too little? Good question.
I would count that. It is an orange lanyard that makes the knife stand out if dropped. So it is fine. It has enough orange for this.

Another week and this starts!
It should be enough time for people to prepare.

If someone wants the badge, they have another week to think about whether they want to join or not. I find that it is much easier to do a challenge with others rather than alone at a later date. I'm still kicking myself for not joining the Batman Challenge. I'd have that badge now. Instead I did not join, and I am not motivated enough to do the challenge by myself. And I still want the badge.

Looking like I might have to bow out of this  ::)

I've just received my roster for July and over two weeks is in northern France (couple of days at a time)

Normally I'd try and post some catch-up pics but half of the challenge would be a "real" challenge  :bnghd:

Not sure if things will change but just a heads up

I won't be able to carry* (not that the French care ) Awlso uploading can be an issue as well  :crash:

Things may change, but not too much, so I may be able to drop in/out but having to do 10-14 days of catch up would be a right royal pain  ::) It would awlso affect the August Alox thing which I had signed up to prior to this!

*Whilst deployed I can only carry official issue kit and none of my orange stuff is "official"

Gotta love Intl deployments

I have several ORANGE items.

July I have committed to the Dean Memorial Traditional Challenge utilizing some CASE tools.

I will follow.  And I may attempt for the badge at later time, October maybe?
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

You can try for a badge any time you like, but if we don't have enough people for this in July, there might not be a badge. :(

Interesting!  Same logic almost as used to obtain a CASE badge and lobbied to piggy back  it onto the Dean Memorial in July.

I know you will be successful getting your badge posted, it is lovely by the way.

There is always so much happening in JULY on the MTo forum, being anniversary month and AWL.

I plan to follow🤪.  I am a October child, and Pumpkin ORANGE is my color.  I actually thought hunters were helping celebrate as they began to sport orange in October and into November😎

Oh no, I didn't even consider that before I went shopping. How many people do we need at least?

Discussions have indicated 10, yet a target of 12 or more maybe better as sometimes folk drop out before ending.

With challenges that do not have an existing badge, it depends. There were six of us for the Weight-loss Challenge, and we got the badge added to the list and awarded to us. We were seven for the Toolbox Challenge and also for the Bladeless Challenge, and we again got the badges added to the list and awarded. The Batman Challenge had only four people complete it when it first ran, and they got the badge.
There are five of us now, so we might get the badge, since both big and small have been made already, with proper dimensions and transparent upper corners. It really is up to the mods. We can try bribing them. :D
