Glad for another good round of medical news from everyone!  :like:

Day 27

I posted a couple times this month about how much I like my Trapper, but find it a little more knife than I like to carry on a daily basis. Fortunately, Case makes them in almost as many sizes as they do Stockmans, and I ordered this Mini Trapper. Haven't really gotten to carry it much yet (I'm really enjoying the trad folders more than I expected. Maybe I'll take it out for a month to switch up the Stockman), but some initial impressions:

1. This is my first CS Case. It just doesn't have the same ring as CV.

2. I appreciate the extra length on the spey, even if I miss it on the handle and the clip. Really, the 47 is just about the perfect size for handle and main blade. I'd love to see Case roll out a whole line of "47 size" knives in the other traditional patterns.

3. What's up with the "double" middle pin? It seems mostly cosmetic, not worth sending it back, but figure I should get a second opinion.

Definitely a handy size  :tu:
I've never seen a double pin. I think there can only be one going through

Now seems as good a time as any to say how my giveaway will work...

I'll give it a little time after the challenge ends, to ensure that everyone has had time to complete it (allowing for catch-up posts and all). The drawing is tentatively scheduled for 6 August 2023. I will go to random.org and use it to select the winner.

Everyone who completes the challenge (except me) will be eligible to win. If the winner lives in a country other than the US, the UK, Ireland, Germany, or the Czech Republic, I'll need to know how to mark the customs form to ensure smooth sailing.

I think I got everyone here. If I missed you, please let me know and accept my apologies.

Case Mini Trapper

It took twice as long as they estimated,,, and I went home with a bonus incision,,,,,, but it's all over but the mending now. Fingers crossed that it works as good as they anticipate.

And yes,,,, I wore some loose basketball shorts per their request,,, but the mini trapper was in the front pocket.

My guess is it's not actually doubled, just smooshed at an angle or something, just wasn't sure what else to call it. The knife feels alright, and I'm inclined to keep it as a novelty over sending it back, but figured I'd ask. Maybe I'll put some pics in the Case thread later today.

Considering you are located in US and if the shipping cost is not high, I would send it back(or at least to dealer) if I were you.

Soddie attended mail duty.

Follow up on yesterday post, I reline a case of Schatt & Morgan knives with a new velvet.  The original case arrived in poor condition, dealer just let the all knives rattled around inside the velvet case with extended blades, and it torn up the velvet pretty badly.   Luckily, no cracked scale or shattered glass because of that, and am really glad to find some new velvet to reline it with.

It's a flaw in the peening of the pin.  From the appearance I'd say that it's mostly cosmetic, so up to you if you want to reject it. I don't think that pin is going anywhere.

Day 28

A very warm rain this morning, just got below 80 degrees last night and awoke to storms, expecting a cold front moved in, but nope!

Today taking stock of items on my table, (discarding old receipts) I find a 📦,

A CASE Sod Buster! Workman RED… with a CS blade.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

And again at next farm over :D

There is definitely a different feel between CV and CS blades.  CV is just a silky smooth feel to the touch :waving: :waving:
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

:hatsoff:  Just sharing what 2 cents I have learnt about velvet.  I did some quick search online and did notice some velvet may bleed color onto knife scales.  That happens even to something like a SAK.  So it maybe a good idea to dip the cloth in water for at least a day or two, to see whether there is any dye may come off.  And rubbing it vigorously against a white cloth may also review whether the velvet would bleed color.
