Day 30

CASE Badge

Just realized this is last day, was so excited seeing the Sun and temp was below 80 degrees F early this morning, I grabbed a knife, slipped in the pocket and with walking stick went for a walk.  And, no smoke in the air either, sky is blue.

Now, enjoying a coffee, watching birds, including hummers on back patio.  With a murdrr of crows pestering RedTail Hawk that is hiding in my Crimson King Maple😏

That's a beauty to end the challenge with LC.

Day 29

Due to caring for some elderly parents yesterday, I'm delayed a day.  I'll start by finishing up with my most-used and carried traditional knife, and one that has been discussed at length in the challenge.

It seems that many of us have these and respect them, the #18.

Happy to carry again obviously, but I thought today was the official end?

Day 30

My 30th entry is one that I've not shared yet during the challenge, because I'm putting it up for a GAW.  All participants that have completed the challenge are eligible.

It's a 2004 Case canoe #62131 in amber bone with Chrome Vanadium (CV) blades.  This is the sister to the canoe that McStitchy won in last year's traditional challege GAW.  Case rated the pair as B stock because of minor light tool marks on the blades.  Otherwise the F&F is very good and they make excellent users.

The GAW will be drawn around the same time Farmer X does his.  Good luck to all, and thanks for participating in the challenge this year!

Beautiful Stag knife my friend.  I am certain it will not be the only one you will have. 😉

The other side is just as nice or maybe even better.

*Day 30*

Dean, another year has just flied by, and hope this message finds you well.

This year many of us have chosen to do something different and carried Case knives for the month, and I rediscovered how much I actually like the Large stockman and Amber bone covers from Case knives.  So many countless good pictures on this thread, and I got to see some patterns or covers I never knew existed.  Total eyes opener.

In terms of knife journey, I recently discover a brand called JE made, and even though it is a modern slip joint, it somehow manage to preserve the traditional aesthetics(totally subjective, see the above).

Also, I found another love of my life, a knife called Cold Steel Verdict.  Yes, it is 4116 German steel, but it has great flicking action despite it is a tri-ad lock; not to mention it has great balance and pretty lightweight overall.  It too does have black handle, so you may approve its handle color.  Hope you were here to see it.

Anyhow, I'm rambling on now, just am really happy to be here for another year of Dean's memorial Traditional challenge, please stay healthy and strong, and I look forward seeing you all next year again!

 :like:  that JE made.

Another modern traditional maker I really like is Lionsteel, especially the Shuffler.  Dean had one as well, and thought highly of it.

I'd also like to thank all the members who posted Case #47 "medium" (medium/large in my book) stockman during the challenge.  I wouldn't have bought one if it weren't for you and I am very fond of it.  It's the one traditional knife I have that I could really consider the "only one I need".  Many of the pocket knives I have are smaller and are best paired with a larger knife to cover all the bases, but the #47 seems "just right" for just about anything.

  Cheers guys!

I'm afraid that if you have even a small collection of Case knives, at least one of them HAS to be yellow Delrin.  :D  Good choice with the Trapper.

I didn't buy as many this time, but the pocket knives I did buy were more expensive. So I probably spent the same amount this year as I did last year
