While there is certainly an exciting element about having enough knives that meet challenge criteria to do “30 knives in 30 days” or something close to that, some of my most memorable challenges have been those in which I used a single knife or just a few knives for the entire 30 days.

Sometimes this was because I only owned one or a few knives that met the challenge criteria.  Other times, it was because I would be traveling for a significant portion of the challenge timeframe, and bringing more than a couple of knives along wasn’t practical.

Carrying just one knife for a longer period of time gives the opportunity for developing a much more in-depth feel for the knife, its capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses.  It’s simultaneously limiting and freeing, in the same way as having to wear a uniform to work.  You don’t have a lot of options, but you surely don’t spend much time or energy deciding what to wear/carry each day.

For this upcoming challenge, I own a handful of GEC models but am only seriously considering two of them.  The Pony Jack is a sweet knife, I appreciate having two knife blades, and I prefer the main clip to a main spear.  It also gets into my pocket pretty regularly on WHW.  I don’t carry the Johnny on the Spot regularly, but feel the additional non-knife tools might come in handy for the challenge, and would give the edge in durability to its delrin scales vs. the PJ’s wood scales.

For that matter, there are one or two traditional knives I've carried for consecutive months outside of any challenge, simply because they're useful knives, so I could certainly just do one in particular for 30 days.

But where's the fun in that?  :D

A couple of things have been weighing on me pretty heavy lately.

1- I sure have been to the doctor a lot lately. Seems like I could benefit a lot from just getting outdoors and moving more.

2- For somebody that loves fishing as much as I do,,,, I sure don't do it much.

So,,, for this challenge I am vowing to make at least 10 of my Dean51 posts centered around fishing,,,, or just getting outdoors. If anyone would like to join me, you are most certainly welcomed.

I don't know how much fishing I'll do, but I'll try to join you in some more outdoor shots. It is camping season! I hope you feel better.

Hate to ruin a good day at the lake with fishing.

All for some more outdoor time though. I’m in.

Thanks for joining in,,,, some outdoor shots sound great!!

IIRC, you were on an extended fishing trip last summer with your GEC bullnose!

Sorry about not feeling 100%

I understand!  It was late April when the side affects I experienced from the radiation treatments subsided, then most of May to work my stamina up to side track naps and resumed my exercise routine just a few weeks ago.

It is a pain, but gotta do it.  Some fresh BlueGills or Largemouth Bass fried up does sound good!!!  Even Walleye…. Just saying😏
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

I replied to your post in the Tween Challenge thread too.  That shield was used by Case on knives that were made as distributor exclusives for Tractor Supply Co.

Nice belt sheaths!😉

Trapper in the larger or do have a 75 Stockman?

The smaller sheath appears to be a 47 ?

Need to provide your source as I might just be interested for carry in the fall.

Good eye, large sheath has a Redbone CV Trapper and the little one will fit a 47 but has a Murica! Mini Trapper in it.

Not sure if I can link the Etsy guy I buy these sheaths from. I’ll send ya a DM?

Just got em the other day and haven’t used em yet because Tween.

Top one fits a Buck 110 or like what I got it for the full sized Sodbuster. Just need to buy one for it still.

Bottom holds a Trapper or I would imagine a Large Stockman.

Day 0

Back years ago in my TL-29 phase. Dean gave me this Camillus TL-29 that he had recovered in some nice Ebony. It's a nice knife and he did a good job tuning it up.
