I was so glad it found a home.  👍

It came through my hands via a bundle on an auction site purchase along with a sheath with some fancy paracord added.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

The Essential must be a really nice carry since you now have 2 of them. They're both great looking knives.

I do really love it.  2.5in blade and can get 4 finger grip which is really comfortable too.  I also like the geometry and blade profile for an edc cutter.  The Magnacut steel is what drove my to purchase this 2nd one.

Here is a comparison with the Izula which i think is a common known knife

Might have to post a fixed blade photo.  When the Tool Box Challenge gets cranked up, this particular knife wouldn't be allowed.  I would have to ban myself from the challenge and possibly levy myself a fine.  Maybe even thousands of dollars which I would have to pay to?.......?  Myself, I guess.
Best wishes.  Gary

I think if you're not expressly prohibited from carrying a fixed blade or any other tool then it is allowed.  The wording in the challenges sometimes says, "use the challenge tool/knife as your only tool/knife for the duration."  and sometimes it says, "use the challenge tool/knife as your primary tool/knife for the duration."  If it says "primary", that indicates that you can carry other knives and tools as long as you always make a point of trying to use the challenge tool/knife first.

The GearAid in the photo is actually a multi-tool in its own right.  It has a bottle opener and a glass breaker.  That is what makes it a no-no for the Tool Box thing.  I double checked with the dude that is hosting the challenge.   :D

The Brisa Crafter. I really enjoy carrying this knife on a dangler.  It stays out of my way and if I really want to make it discreet I can drop the bottom of the sheath in my back pocket without removing it from my belt.

I took this fixed blade off my belt pack when I did the Toolbox Challenge.  I can't EDC this thing.  I plan on carrying it on my own property Friday.  The photo was on my camera.  I don't know if I posted it before or not.  I'm sure I can't take a better photo tonight.  Anyway, it is the same knife.  Titanium coated, tanto blade that is partially serrated.  I'm not sure how long the plastic sheath would hold out if it had too many falls, knocks, or if the dogs chewed on it.  Best wishes.  Gary

Yes, it's a GearAid Kotu.  I rather liked the looks of it when I had the box for the first time but didn't take it.  I'm sure everybody who had the box after that rejected it as well.  When it came to me the third time I had the box, I decided to have pity on the thing.  I like small fixed blades, but NC has a different view on carrying them.  Evidently Kotu means 'bad' in Turkish.  Not bad like the current street usage.  "That's a bad dude."  Bad like smelly, undesirable, or a-hole.  Might not be a Turkish word, but that's Gooble's first choice.  Best wishes.  G

Gary,
At least if you beat up on the Kotu you do’t have to feel like you wasted your money.  Sometimes it is fun to push things to their limits just to see how well they do.

The Kotu seems to be pretty solid actually.  I don't mind using things, but I am more of a try to take care of what I own type of person.  Then I keep using it after it is worn out and patch it up with glue and duct tape.  I try to minimize knocks, falls, and the last dog I owned is under the big mimosa tree in my back yard.  Has been for years.
I'm hoping the forecast for a winter storm with ice is wrong.  Last big ice storm here broke several hundred power poles and took forever for the electricity to be restored.  It is heavily forested here and lots of steep hills.  Ice breaks the trees and they fall on the lines.  Even smaller snow events make it impossible for me to get out.  I recall fairly recently having to stay in bed wearing a coat and pants under every blanket in the house plus a sleeping bag.  No heat and can't run a kerosene space heater all the time.  I'm not really worried, but it sure makes things difficult.
Best wishes.  Gary

I still like that knife, G.  I must have handled it through several turns of the Sos Surprise Box and just couldn't get comfortable with the bottle opener at the end of the handle.  I'm glad you finally gave it a home.  The Sos Surprise Box is still making its rounds if anyone else wants to play.

I'm still carrying the Izula II that has been on my belt every day since the end of January but I'm starting to get a little bored with it.
