    Day 3
After all the 'mail opening' photos that got everyone on the edge of their seats, I decided that I might as well be a parasite and do one as well.  What an idea.  This is MiniChamp slicing open the monthly Love Letter that I get from Duke electric.  That is the most considerate company that I have ever been associated with.  They never miss a single month without remembering to write.  Kind of makes me get a little misty eyed when I think about it.  There are all sorts of mathematics on their correspondence, but I never was a numbers person.  I glance at it, then put the note away with a stack of others.  Sigh.

Heh, yeah... If I hadn't opened some mail with my Minichamp yesterday I wouldn't have had any uses to report, unfortunately. Sometimes you have to "manufacture" a SAK opportunity for these challenges...

I do wish you could get the Minichamp without the pen scale, though I'm sure that's an unpopular opinion. I prefer the traditional toothpick/tweezers as scale tools, personally. I don't seem to find myself desperate for a pen in a situation where there isn't one laying around very often. I suppose I could order a set of regular 58mm scales and do a quick swap but I haven't brought myself to spend the money on a SAK I really haven't carried until this challenge.

My compromise is that I've decided to swap out the tweezers for the toothpick on the "front" scale -  I get a lot more use out of the toothpick than I do the tweezers on a regular basis.

That was my issue with celidor MiniChamps.  I rectified the issue by finding refurbished SD's ( new scales and t&t) on the eBay at less than new scales alone.
Swap out the scales and I'm a happy camper.

I wouldn't mind buying some scale sets in "bulk" for 91mm and 58mm sizes. I don't mean hundreds at a time when I say bulk - but like... 20 sets of each at some reasonable discount? Might sting a bit but at least then I would have a small supply on hand.

I seem to only see them sold individually though.

Day 3 of 30:
Quick post before I get busy and forget with all of our family coming in for my daughter's birthday. Used the main blade to cut my biscuits instead of tearing them open like a Neanderthal. Left over biscuits and gravy for lunch never disappoints.

I'm about to take off work and pick up my little boy to take him to the doctor. He gets his hard cast put on his arm today after 2 weeks with a splint. He is excited to have a camo cast for hunting season!

Day 3
Every once in a while I get nostalgic for a toy I had as a child.  I found this unopened set of Play-Doh on eBay and bought it, it was the pocket knife that drew me in.
Seen here with an Alox MiniChamp.
I enjoyed reading the origins of Play-Doh:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Play-Doh

Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

Sadly, nothing exciting to report for my MC.  Maybe the evening will bring more exciting adventures...

As predicted, a package arrived for me today…

It looked nice in the package, but once I got it on my wrist, I didn’t like it. The screen is hard to see, unfortunately. So it’s going back!

I do love Casio watches though. Like SAKs, they represent great value for money in most cases!

     Day 4
Cut n Pick blade gets some exercise.  Designed to cut the wraps off of a pill bottle and then open the top seal to pick out the cotton batting.  It has been relegated to a so-so orange peeler in more recent times.
This implement will bring blood if given half a chance.  Razor sharp with a pointy hook.  I have some pictures of what were called in the day 'peasant's knives'.  Made by Elsener.  They look llike the old Soldier's knife but have different tools.  Saws, files, etc.  One model was available with a fleam.  Not much need for a fleam today.  The Cut n Pick could stand in fairly well, I think.  If anybody wants to see one of the old knives, I will post a picture.  Best wishes.  Gary

I decided to post an old photo anyway.  The knife with the fleam is the second from the left.  Pointy downward angled sharp thing.  A peasant might try some do it yourself veterinary work and use the fleam.  You would put a rope around a cow's neck and tighten it until the veins popped up a little.  Then the fleam would be pressed against a vein and the back of the blade would be given a whack with your other hand.  Blood.  After a few seconds, the rope would be relaxed to let the blood flow stop.  Your cow, sheep, bullock, goat or whatever was ailing had a little recovery time, then it would be feeling much better.  Hopefully.
The big needles are sacking needles.  Zip ties were quite rare a hundred years ago.  Produce was often carried in sacks.  Flour, potatoes, grain, turnips.  How do you close them?  One good way is with some coarse twine and a sacking needle.  Sew them up in a jiffy.  Best wishes.  Gary
