Got around to replacing the rings on a couple knives this morning.  I've never had an issue with Victorinox split rings though I have had some used ones that were badly sprung and had some on other tools that were actually useless.

I'm thinking that the new ones should never have a problem.   I also like the flattened rings better for all of my keys and such.

The size difference is quite obvious.  The new ring on the left compared to the Victorinox on the right.

Day 10

Wow, one third of the challenge has already gone by. Given that I wasn't very active this month, I didn't get to put the MiniChamp through its paces. However, I feel confirmed in my belief that a MiniChamp (or even a lesser 58 mm SAK) is all a city dweller needs. As long as I have scissors, a small blade, a caplifter and the ability to drive a screw, I am pretty much golden. Today I used the MC to trim my fingernails and to open a box of chocolates.

Cheers,

Simon

Day 10 of 30:
Busy day with parents teacher conferences. Trimmed my nails with the scissors and filed them smooth. Spared you the process pics. I really wish the nail file was the SD version. I always poke myself while filing and have even drawn blood with it.

A bit late to the post but...

Day 10

Once again, the emergency blade on the MC is great at cleaning up the details on my 3D prints.  I swear it works better than my Xacto blades.  Just wish I was a bit more creative with my picture taking.  Meh..

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Day 11
Corn flakes.  Mmmmm. Dig in with the mini spoon?  I will admit that the mini scooper is something that I haven't used yet.  I took the battery out of my Cub and put it on the charger for winter storage indoors.  Not something in the mini's compass.  Does everyone read all the other posts in the challenge?  I think that's the best part for me.  Best wishes.  G

Day 11......a frosty start on the allotment which as the sun rose and the shadows shortened, turned the soil to a craggy clay, sticking to everything, so once the garlic bed was cleared of weeds, and my boots had been delaminated of several inches of muck, it was the turn of the hori-hori to be cleaned, a job for which the MC excels...... :D

Got to love gardening.  It used to be my favorite thing.  I would plant Simpson leaf lettuce under a cold frame in August.  Also some mustard under another frame.  Great photos awl.
 Best wishes.  G
