Day 11

Sort of a failure, mostly operator

Making my crockpot concoction yesterday, I forgot to add the French Onion Soup. So when I returned home a couple hours later I remembered,  it was an older style can, no pull lid tab.

I tried the oHT opener/cap lifter, pierced the can, caught the lip and successfully completed two lifts and cuts, then the lip gave way,  I had to resort to a traditional can opener.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

I will admit, the few times I have needed to open a can, LM is not my go to, a SAK or a sturdy knife blade is 1st choice. ☺️
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Thanks LC! Speaking of pliers, for Day 11 I used the excellent cutters to cut a zip tie

Nice job Barry!

For me, I prefer a pair Diagonal cutters for trimming  nylon zip ties, or the serrated blade to allow me to trim to the locking block. I just hate getting my hand or arm scratched by the sharp edges defy by a bypass cutter since they can not get flush.  Mainly because most areas I have to secure wires/cables were with tight quarters or cabinets.

Hello to day 11.
I get paid to look at cracks in concrete floors and write up reports. Some people think this a very strange and sad life.
Normally there are pictures involved   and I need to label them.
The OHT  was used to trim labels to size before photos are taken.
The card is called a crack width indicator.

Nice pics from the rest of the team.

:iagree: I've made them work when I had to, but the SAK opener is hard to top.

 Paul and the same to you!  I've never seen that done.
I've been around for cracks in asphalt, and I measure structural cracks on large trucks but I'd love to see you at work.

Day 11
The LM opener is the best working for me on cans.
Bottles do work too but not as good as the Victorinox one.

That is pretty bold to try cutting that tree with the saw blade. I think that the smaller side branch would be more suitable attempt.

Let us know your experience!

Day 12

Mounting a display case, found that the instructions were misleading, and the result was two brackets were not in the correct position on the wall.

So, removed the two brackets, OHT pliers held the inserts while I backed out the screws.
Aplied masking tap to top on cabinet marked center points held to the wall locked into the correct mounts and transferred marks to center the remaining two.

Drilled the holes and mounted 👍
OHT helped…

Where's mine?

I love Leatherman's combo bottle and can opener.  While it may not be the best at either job, I rarely ever (almost never) need a can or bottle opener on my multitool, so I really appreciate that it takes up only 1 tool slot instead of 2.   :tu:

 LC!  It got it done, but I can honestly say that this saw is a "survival" saw.  It felt awkward in my hand while I was using it.  It seems about a 1/4 inch short.  Other than that, it's a cutter!

I will agree with you on the  two points, it is a “survival” saw tool.  Prepping small branches for a camp fire is what I have used for in a couple of outings.  And yes , it should and could be longer if LTG considered a serious tool.   Placing the smallest flat screwdriver blade on the saw side a longer saw would fit nicely, just requiring the flat base to be open prior to the saw.  Then put the can/lifter in the flat screw blade place.

Otherwise a 1/4” saw blade should fit in the same location.   I think somebody read the blue prints wrong🤪

  Thanks for mug, 2nd round on me :hatsoff:

I think a couple of revisions by LTG and this tool would be a superstar.  It's a good solid multitool, and I can testify to it's ruggedness.  I wish they'd have given it another round at bat.  The reviews I've read were almost all positive.  My oldest, Noah, used his in a maintenance job and said it would take a beating and still come back for more.  I really like carrying mine!

I'll take you up on that mug my friend!

It is mounted, and the pliers help to pull over the sheathing protecting the plexiglass as I warmed with a hair dryer.

It seems these days less and less companies  bother perfecting their products but instead replace it with something new ever so often  :dunno:
