Klein Electrician Scissors; 2100-7 vs 2100-9
on: October 15, 2023, 02:50:58 AM
Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy a robust pair of scissors (my first pair of "serious" scissors ever) and Klein caught my eye.
Is there a significant difference between these two models? Is stainless steel better than carbon steel? Will the material impact the longevity/robustness of the tool and the sharpness of the blades? I think they also have slightly different serrations? Does that make a noticeable difference?

Basically, which one should I go for?

Thx in advance!

From what I can tell, the only difference is stainless or nickel plated.
Other than that they seem pretty much identical :tu:
Haven't tried any of them myself so can't help you with any real world use.

I don’t own either of these tools.

I agree that they appear to be nearly identical, with the exception that one is nickel-plated steel and the other stainless steel.

Stainless steel is better than carbon steel at minimizing rust, especially in wet or damp environments.  However, carbon steel is generally tougher than stainless.

There are exceptions, but I’m not generally a fan of things that are plated or coated, as these surface treatments often wear off over time.

Personally, if I were going to get one, I’d go with the stainless.

Thanks, guys. I think I'm going to go for the 2100-9. Should be strong enough for my use, and I'd rather not have to keep them oiled all the time.
