Any feedback on how the coatings hold up?

I’ haven’t seen any on these, but from my experience with other knives, they all wear and eventually look bad. Especially the blades.

I actually like the look of black oxide when it wears  :pommel:

Me too.  I don’t plan on using mine, but now I’m thinking about buying another to use and abuse.

I want the new obsidian to keep it in pristine condition not for use! Love the new Leather sheath but $275 is stopping me! It's a limited edition so I must decide fast!
Enjoy!

Army and Airforce, active duty or veterans only.  The Navy/Marines/Coast Guard have their own Exchange which also allows civilian employees.

Got the Obsidian today. Beautiful tool; I'm not normally a fan of gold accents, but they suit this one well. I'm not sure if it's the DLC coating on everything, if they just put more care and effort into these, or if it's just luck of the draw, but one thing I notice is that the joints and tools on this are smoother and offer lower resistance than my standard Arc. This thing just oozes "premium tool" in every respect.

It really is nice. You would be hard pressed to put a more premium tool on paper.

I'll admit that, like Rich, I'm seriously tempted to buy a second one of these to keep a collector's piece and have a daily driver. My rational side is trying to keep me away from that shopping cart button.

Not even the chance to buy one here in the UK.

Despite Leatherman telling people how many are available “worldwide”, these don’t seem to be crossing the Atlantic.

Got the ZapWizard holster and bit driver handle today. Very impressed with the quality of the prints (man, this makes me want an SLS printer!) and the design. The bit driver handle is a perfect fit for the entire Wiha Technician bit kit (assuming you keep the last bit in the ratchet driver itself) and turns the ratchet into a very usable mini-screwdriver.

My only regret is that with all the challenges from now until the end of the year, I won't be carrying my Arc again until at least January.

Just got an email from Leatherman. 5000 world wide for the Obsidian ARC.
[/quote

Thanks for this number for the Limited Edition  Obsidian: 5000! Your’s is the only reference that I have been able to find (still haven’t figured out how many of Garage batch #006 Harvest were made).

What is the coating on the tools? Are they all DLC?

Per the Leatherman website, the ARC Obsidian is “currently unavailable.” Whether that means that the Obsidian is sold out or just temporarily unavailable, I do not know.

Congrats!  If you wanted one, it looks like you made the right move. The LM site is out of them, leaving only a few licensed dealers having them.

Well, you can’t lose really. If you don’t like it you can wait until they sell out and sell it for twice the price on eBay.

I cracked and bought a second one to keep as a collector's piece. I figure worst case I can always get my money back on the secondary market as they become more rare in the future, and this way I'll have peace of mind about carrying and using the one I already have.

Maxlvledc did a video today about the Obsidian selling out; I suspect the feelings he voices will be sympathetic to many here.

For anyone still looking for one, Sportsman's Warehouse is still showing some in stock and shipping online.

I don't watch his videos because he was a member here and got banned for always trying to push his channel and never giving MTO credit for the content he was making even though it was coming directly from here in his time here

He first joined not knowing anything and then all of a sudden he was an expert  which I guess is the way a lot of social media works these days :D

Congratulations on getting a second one :o they are definitely nice :salute: :like:

He accused me of faking the images of the ARC that I discovered 7 months before it was released.  Then he used the pics on his Youtube channel taking credit for the find.
