I think you're right. The 74mm knives seem to be where that's most likely to happen. Looks like they used older stock for both the blade and the orange peeler on this one.
Could you share picture of your 30 Executives?
I won't have time today to get them all out and "pose" them, but I should be able to next weekend. Also, I think I'm a couple short of 30; that was just a rough estimate in my head.
Hey psyjohnGreat post and nice piccies of an old Companion/Executive - Can I please use the images in the Wiki ?
It seems like there are additional variations within the five evolutionary changes listed. I notice that some are with ‘bevel’ (not sure if correct term) on both sides, while many have that on only one side, with other side flat. Additionally I have one that almost seems like left handed Orange Peeler, in that the bevel and flat sides are switched sides to all others that I have seen. Suspect that pictures might make this more clear, but do not happen to have handy at this time.
I love the Executive and it is one of my all-time favorite SAKs, although I haven't carried one in a long time. Anyway, can I just say how much it bugs me that we call the sharpened back edge of the orange peeler a "gut hook"? I mean, it's not a gut hook, and the Executive isn't even a hunting knife. The back edge of the peeler is for scoring the orange peel. Has anyone on this forum ever used this edge to "gut" a bird or other small game? Anybody else irked by this, or is it just me?
