Day 16

Today was a good day between smoking ribs and cooking some chicken.

Day 16
SAK-Alike Challenge
Gerber Armbar Slim Drive

Used the Armbar to install a battery in my cable tester I picked up at the flea market yesterday. Took a gamble and was happy to find all it needed was a battery.

Day 13

Didn't get anything accomplished, I've got the flu and a winter hurricane mess came through today.  I did get a mirror polish on the K2

Let me know how you like that game.  My wife and sister in-laws are into board games.

Day 17

Just some casual package opening duty.  I'm going to clean up and hone the blade this weekend to get ready for Christmas day.  I suspect there will be a lot to open.

Day 17

The awl is somewhat similar to the Vic 93 mm awl, in that it features both a sharp point and a sharp edge, but no sewing eye, and is end-mounted.

It did an excellent job putting another hole in this old belt.  (I’m pretty sure the need for another hole was due to the belt stretching, not a reduction in my waist size.)

The claw-style can opener, in addition to the acute point, is sharpened on the inside edge.  It punctured the can with relatively little effort.  Like most MT can openers, however, it is only possible to take fairly small bites at the can.

Had a lot for the Voss to do today.  Had to replace the battery on my key fob so, so I had to use the flat head to open the key fob, then use the knife to open the battery package, then use the awl to get the battery out.  Busy day for the Voss today.

That series ended way too soon.  I loved it as a kid.  My favorite saying was - "Noy Jitat!"

Sorry, showing my nerdness.

The flat screwdriver works, and I believe would turn any screw it fits in.

I didn’t directly test its prying capabilities, but believe it would be similar to a 91 mm Vic there.

Day 15

Christmas is making work crazy and with all the store managers visiting one store Thursday I'm having to make sure this one store is on top of things. No tool usage, blade got used to unzip the plastic around pallets for produce.

Day 20

To sum up my thoughts on the A.G. Russell Premium Scout, all tools functioned as they ought to and it lived up to its name.

I should say a word about the bail.  It provides a lanyard or fob attachment point for those (not usually me) who may want one, while staying mostly out of the way when using the tools.  I’m not sure if this is by design or not, but while easy to move, the bail has enough resistance that it generally stays put rather than flopping around loosely.

Unfortunately, these knives are discontinued, but if you have the opportunity to pick one up in reasonable condition for a decent price, I don’t believe you’d regret it.  In addition to micarta, I think it was also offered in  jigged bone and stag.

Nothing like a nice scout. I think we should have a scout challenge next year.

Package duty on one more present.  I need to start wrapping gifts tomorrow.  Maybe I can convince the wife to take a short video of me attempting to "cut" wrapping paper with the blade.  Right after she rolls her eyes that is.
