Great Job on the mod TexasAKM!

Marlowe, I chose the Pro-Scout because it has nice Fiskars scissors and does not have the carbide cutters.  I find scissors are an absolute must for my EDC but honestly, not a deal breaker in tool selection because a Vic Compact can cover the need for scissors.  If you have an AR-15 you might want the model with the sight adjustment tool.  Other than that they're all good and the Basic will cover most people's needs handily.

Hi Awl,
Not participating.  Just enjoying the photos and comments.  I'm not sure how Barry did this?  Wham.  One day he says I am doing a challenge and then the fun people just pile in.
It's like Barry had a convertible, a cooler and some shades.  Drives up to some bored looking young folks standing around.  Says, "Hey.  Anybody want to go to the beach?"  Then the whole bunch jumps in his ride without even thinking.  Turns on some music.  Everybody living it.  Must be magic.  Or something?  Best wishes.  G

Love to have you along Gary!

Thank you Lisa!
It's like Fonzie walked in, kicked the juke box and we all jumped up to have a dance.  Barry has that certain je ne sais quoi.

I will admit, I searched the auction site, found some bargains😜.   And  held back!!!  Just as I had to after the 60 day, as I had another Butterblade model in my sites, just to have a spare.

Challenges have that afffect😉
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Thanks for all the advice, folks!

I think I’m going to avoid the carbide cutters and choose from the models that don’t have them. Too bad that it looks like the blade-less version is carbide-only though.

As previously mentioned, the Pro-Scout version doesn't have carbide cutters.

A lot of users will simply use the carbide cutters until they break and then replace them with aftermarket cutters such as these high speed steel cutters meant for use in a lathe.  https://littlemachineshop.com/products/product_view.php?ProductID=1724

Or they get these, which are still carbide cutters and also meant for use in a lathe, but seem a bit stronger than the Gerber supplied cutters and they are considerably cheaper.  https://www.amazon.com/TCMT110204-Carbide-Insert-Turning-Holder/dp/B07G2DZRK2

At least Gerber was kind enough to use cutters that are more or less a standard size.  Your mileage may vary whatever you decide to get.  I happen think trying to figure out which model to get is half the fun.
