Early EARLY Victorinox Grand Prix recent pick up
on: December 21, 2023, 08:58:00 AM
Howdy.  Been awhile.
Cut to the chase: was at a small gun show this past weekend.  On Sunday, the second day, went back.  My friend called me: "Come here now..!!"
Found him.  HE found a near MINT Grand Prix in a box of knives the seller claimed came from an estate. $10 and it was mine (yep!!  that cheap!!)  I will have to post pics, but anyways, this one is UNUSUAL and I have never had this one (I sold off 6x Grand Prix from every iteration a few years back when times got bad, but have sense recovered).
Specs: NOTE: no box
- Cross and Car logos: silver
- Scales: red, still glossy but one area is scratched (carry wear?)
- Bottom Phillips: squared with can key, punch with profiled tip, flat bladed screwdriver
- Top: large and small blades (pre-2005 markings and not Victoria vintage), file, scissors with flat-head screw, can and bottle opener (does not stay open half way)
- Toothpick
- SILVER HEAD tweezers
- And now the kicker; KEY RING!!!!  Most Grand Prix until the very late 1980s/early 1990s to discontinuing circa 1992 did NOT have a key ring.  The one I carry daily is like this.

My guess is, date is circa 1968-1974 era based on features above.

I completed HS in 71, did not yet know about SAKs, lived rural, thought you needed milk delivered by milkman to get  it bottles , or milk your Cow to get it at awl.

Interested in what will be detailed by a picture😁

Sounds exciting B10M - And an amazingly good purchase !!       :D :D :D
And good to see you again.   :tu: :tu: :tu:

What is the tang stamp on the main blade?   ???  VSSR with a small V and OFFICIER SUISSE with the cross bow and cross.

If it is not a VICTORIA tang stamp - That would put it post '73 according to the Wiki:
https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Victorinox+Tang+Stamp+Guide

Single or double scissor spring?   ???

Just had a silly thought!

Why is there an inlay of a vintage car on the Grand Prix ?
.... Surely it should be an F1 car !!   :tu:

Or the Grand Prix should be called the Classic or Vintage or such like!    ;)
