Two New Multi Tools Arrived

Hello everyone. I have been away camping. Rustic, farmers field, quiet, etc. I was not about to post on the forum from my phone. Wait to be in the house on a larger screen. Ok, I received two holiday gifts. I asked for them as a joke and never expected them. By the way, the Leatherman MT300 I ordered is not here yet. I received as gifts a Leatherman Arc and a Swisstool X with ratchet. First impression, the Arc is all about marketing and wow factor. For $230 it should be polished, no grit, nothing tight anywhere, it should be creamy smooth out the box. Right from the moment of handling both tools, the Swisstool is of higher quality control. Once you overcome the spring, it is silky smooth. For $230, you should not have to break in the Arc. It should be tuned at the factory. Now, I have not used either tool, but on first impression, the Swisstool is a higher quality item. I know people are going nuts over the knife blade on the Arc, I get it. However, take a 420hc blade and swipe it through a Lansky Blade Metic once or twice a week and you have no need to worry about edge retention. LOL I am looking forward try using both multi tools around the farm. This is only my first impression out of the box. This will be fun.

    Great gifts.  The Victorinox MTs are very smooth and have a high quality feel to them.  When I got my first I felt the same as you.  Even after getting a Charge TTi my Spirit still felt like a much more quality tool.  Add in the polished look and you start to feel like LM is behind. 

I do hope with time the ARC proves to be every bit as amazing to use as the Swisstool is to look at.  The Magnacut blade should prove to be one heck of a blade.  While 420 is nice theres something to be said about high quality steel.

Better start watching out for rabbit holes out on the farm.  You've definitely fallen into the MT hole.

  there is a fun to it! Being prepared or creative is half the fun for me. I’ve also been in situations where my multitool is my only set of tools and I’ve had to figure it out. That was fun.
